rear power windows in ascent

hi all,

i got my car three weeks ago and part of teh package i got was power windows in teh rear.

i am a bit dissappointed as i was expecting a neat factory look, instead, i got small BLACK boxes for the switches in the rear attached to the door panel and switches attached to the dash next to teh mirror control for the driver controls, it is a very after market look and i just feel ripped off.

mind you, i love my car, everything else is great, but this just keeps nagging me. if i wanted after market looks, i could have got it cheaper getting them after market.

well, my question is, anyone else get this option? how did your car turn out? is it the same for the conquest and levin that have these as stnadard (i hope not)

if i take it back, do u think they can fix this issue?

u got pics of the buttons? i cant imagine what it looks like...

it may be dissapointing, but youre definately not ripped off. if it doesnt work, thats 1 thing. but if you went out and intentionally bought a car that didnt have rear power windows in the first place, (perhaps 2 save a few bucks?) then im not suprised the rear power window upgrade looks aftermarket.

if i were you, i would have complained as soon as i picked up the car... no wait. i just would have avoided buying a car that didnt have rear power windows as standard in the first place.

i guess you can either live with it, or try 2 buy oem parts from the wreckers to make it look like it came standard with the car which means more $$$ spent, or trade in again for a corolla that came with the rear power windows as stock.

Hi all. I have a new Conquest with full power windows. The rear controls on a factory fit look nothing like the pitcures here. They are mounted into the arm rests just below the handle. In the front they are mounted on the drivers door with the front controls.

I'd post a pic but have no idea how. Sorry. :help:

Wow, that does not look aesthetically pleasing!

On the other hand, the controls are normally mounted on the arm rests, but the new rolla doesn't seem to have much bulk in the dept - maybe that's the only place they could mount the controls

Car models that do not come standard with power windows on the rear, when requested for, will received aftermarket power windows installed. They look nothing like the models that come standard from the factory....

Ripped off if you ask me....

lawl lucky i didnt get the rear power windows... its weird aswell because its the same door... just the conquest has it in the arm rest.. and ascent has it as an attachment ... i have the ascent .. and its very weird lol how could they do that when the control for the fronts are already in the armrests?? lol ..

yeh actually now thinking about it, it does seem they did exactly that ... however.. i remember in our old holden, they had a small circular cover thing, that covered the hole for the manual winder? so i don't think they really need to change the whole door panel ?

my 2c worth i guess

i also remember pulling those covers off when i was younger...

would probebly cost more if they had 2 replace your original parts for more stockish parts.

i think toyota did what they could in this situation.

what i meant by my post is that we had the lower model, and it didn't come with power windows at all we got it as an option, so i still believe toyota could have done better guess not lol.

I'll tell you what I think it is....

The little black box has a small motor in it running off the electrical system, which has a little output socket that clicks into the original window winder. So rather than having a scissor mechanism like regular power windows, it's just a little slave engine winding the window up and down for you...

Thanks Toyota for your dodgy 1980's aftermarket power windows ;)

makes total sense that theres a little motor in there... except it would be cooler to say your rear windows have "actuators" like most of the moving parts they put into cars @ pimp my ride hahaha

      Toyota Corolla Allex Tweeters

      Hi all, I wanted to upgrade my car’s front speakers, on the website it says my car has the option to have tweeters, and I checked at the housing at the mirror, however when the current panel is moved it seems the space is taken up?       I don't know about 2013s but my initial reaction is to try switch them out incase they are blown.

      Hey peeps, I purchased a 2013 Toyota Camry. Both seperate light bulbs for the licence plate are not illuminating. Ideas on the issue? Steps to solve? Could it be a fuse? I assume if it was a fuse other lights would also be out? On that note the transmission option light inside is also out (drive, park so forth). Any advice appreciated.

      Toyota Expert need - Hilux Workmate Ute 2010 Engine/Head

      Hello, Purchased a Toyota 2010 ute (petrol), all seemed great until one day I missed the temperature going up and the sweet strange smell of the coolant and the first I knew I was in trouble was when the windscreen had a shower of water/coolant as the radiator top had blown apart. I had a local mechanic suggest using the head/weld stuff, possibly not a great idea, it seemed ok for a while at least in terms of I could drive back and forth to work. I don’t use the ute much. We then found a metal pipe on the right side of the engine which was cracked and this seems to have been the what caused the problem all along. This was fixed and the vehicle seemed OK. I thought perhaps I had dodged a bullet and it was not the head gasket having blown or a cracked cylinder head etc. Recently noticed the tell tale vapour from the exhaust and also from the rear part of the engine (with the hood up). Now realise there is a major problem and I did not dodge any bullets at all. I have another different mechanic who is due to come and collect the vehicle on Tuesday and is going to replace the head gasket and the cylinder head for a quality aftermarket head. Now I am trying to find out if this is the right move. He is a good mechanic, recommended by trustworthy people, he mainly works on diesel motors. I cannot afford to spend thousands fixing the vehicle to only find that the base part of the motor is screwed and the vehicle really needs a new engine (wreckers engine). Is there any way to tell? It was making some horrible knocking sounds the last few times I drove it, probably should not have drove it the last few times, just did not have much choice. Hoping that after all this a new gasket and head will sort it out. Hoping some people who know what they are talking about can provide some sound advice. Appreciate your feedback/assistance. Cheers.

      4lo flashing ABS,traction control, brake light stay on

      Hi help needed I've a 2009 150 series prado and started the car and 4lo light is flashing , ABS , traction control, hand brake light stay. Tried taking batteries lead of for couple hrs nothing. Scan tool nothing. Batteries are good alternator is good ,looked all over terminals, earth leads all looks good, drives the same I've no idea

      Android auto not working Toyota corolla ascent sport hybrid

      HI guys Recently I bought a Toyota Corolla ascent sport hybrid sedan 1.8l, but when I try to connect my android phone to the vehicle it doesn't connect to andtroid auto, android auto is not working. I know that the version of the multimedia unit is outdated and needs to be updated. Therefore I searched for multimedia software updates on the Toyota website with my vehicle's VIN number, but the Toyota website doesn't recognise my VIN number. My unit Model number is DCU 19TDT20C-EAP7 MEU 19TMT20C-EA02 I cannot find latest update files for this model. Please help me to find the latest update files for the above model.

      Please help Reverse Trigger wire harness for Camry Hybrid 23

      Dear all I have a Camry Ascent Hybrid 2023 with standard version, 7 inch touch screen Fujitsu Denso FT0106B head unit. Today I removed the head unit and replaced with the Alpine ILX-F511A and connect the plugs by Aerpro wire harness. I connected all the plugs but there is a 28 pin plug does not have the wire harness from Aerpro cable. Everything is working except the reverse Camera. I connected the reverse trigger wire to Aerpro reverse trigger but the camera does not work when I change the gear to reverse position. I think this error comes from the 28 pin plug which is not connected. If someone knows which wire harness color and which pin is the car reverse trigger please help me with it. And the FM radio is not working too, I do not know which car wire color to connect the blue wire from antenna connector too. Thank you so much.
