As u Sydneysiders may know it has been cold lately, & my front & rear windows fogs up & I can't defog them. It's actually very dangerous. Correct me if I'm wrong but u use hot/warm air & for some reason I can't get the temperature to match what the setting is on, it stays cold.

Hot will increase the difference in temperature between inside and outside thus making the windscreen fog more.

Just tank it, turn on the air-conditioning for 20 secs and freeze ur nuts off.

Wait till engine is hot ( run car for a few minutes before you leave home )

Whilst its warming up have the Heat set to hottest setting with it also set to the windscreen

Press the button to turn AC on aswelll

AC + Heat causes the fog to dissipate, If left long enough it will demist the entire car. Also press the rear Defog button and that will enable the rear defog lines to warm up and clear the rear window ( takes 5 minutes )

Get back to us and see how this goes !

Heater doesnt really work until the engine has warmed up. And use the rear demister if the rear starts to fog up!

Use header + air con, I used only air con before and I got a fever the next day when the temperature is 6 degrees raining..

Also, switch off the interal air circulation button (the recursive arrow key), this allows the cold air to come in

My car is Ascent with traditional air con knobs, but not sure how climate control system works in conquest and levin

Is it just me, or does anyone else think using heat is the opposite of what you should be doing if you want to defog your windows? You do realise how your windows fog up right?

The most effective way to defog your windows is with your air conditioning as this will remove the moisture from the air. You can even combine this with heat so you can keep warm while clearing your windows.

Otherwise, if you don't want to use the air conditioner, you can turn your heat up and combine this with putting your windows down a crack (though the more air you let in the better), as this will balance the humidity inside the car with the air outside and will reduce or remove the issue of foggy windows.

Using heat with no air conditioning or with your windows up is just asking for your windows to fog up.

Weathershields are the best invention for not fogging up the car as it helps balance the difference in temp.

For me i just drive and put my windows down with cold then when the windscreen goes clear i turn the heat up and shut the windows.

Read your Users Manual re demisting and they will tell you to use the A/C and flow though air, not recirculating while demisting..It dehumidifies the air. If you check the A/C control it has a setting on it, at least my 2005 Rolla does. for demisting... This method is generally recommended for most, if not all cars..Heat can be set to whatever is comfortable.

Yeah A/C on is a given!

Just A/C on, let the air in from outside and you should be fine.

Simple:

1. A/C needs to be ON

2. OPEN vents to fresh (the wind blowing THROUGH the car icon)

3. Set Demisters to ON.

4. A/C to ICE MODE (to balance temps on the windows

5. Full A/C fan Speed (will get rid of it quicker).

I do this, or something like it, and you shouldn't have too many problems :D

Yeah, heater Doesn't work for sure, I suspect a blown fuse 4 the heater, now I dnt have user manual, would u know where it is located, under the hood or behind the glovebox

Um, the heater doesn't rely on power to create it's heat. It is generated by the hot coolant from your engine. If it's not cooling, either your heater core lines are blocked, or your air mix vane/servo is stuffed.

Oh my bad, I thought it worked using an element & fan, so who do u recommend to fix such problems

This happened with my first rolla ('86 Seca). (the heater unit had actually rusted through and spewed milky-rusty water all through the front carpets :nopity: - but that's another story).

I (and my old man) fixed it myself. It took AAAGES - difficult to get to. But cheap (from memory the part was about $65 - tho that was 10 years ago). Perhaps speak to a general mechanic, or aircon specialist? Its not really an electrical issue. In any case (as is usual for these things), parts should no problem, but the labour bites bad. Good luck.
