Well in another thread I said that I am looking at buying a Corolla Ascent Sport.

If my memory serves me correct it has a 1ZZ-FE right? I havent done much research, but I was wondering what you guys would recommend to be the first ideal mods, be it mechanical/performance or otherwise.

I tried searching here but it didnt really pull up much in the results department.

give some time to get to know your car first... which shouldn't take too long. then plan your mod based on what u dislike or wish to improve on ;) ;) ;)

1 Springs

2 Front Strut Tower Bar

3 Rear Sway Bar

4 Airfilter

5 Exhaust

Your not going to get much more power, so I recommend the suspensions mods first, you get much more enjoyment from it.

very true

suspension mods = feel the difference, see the difference

so its only worth putting front strut and rear sway?

Yes that's right, the front sway bar is adequate unless you're looking at doing serious track work. For everyday driving and the occassion track stint the front sway bar is adequate.

The Corolla hatch already has a quite rigid rear body structure thanks to those thick c pillars. The rear strut tower bar really isn't needed and will only restrict your boot, so again unless you're building an all out track weapon, it's just not needed and those who've fitted have seen little or no difference.

If Budget allows I'd also add dampers/shocks to the list as well as front camber bolts. But save your money and leave the shocks until the standard ones wear out.

no no, you got it all wrong people, if you are getting a car NEW, i would go something like this:

*Wheels/Tyres (get them with the purchase of the car, the dealer will sort it)

*Audio (headunit, speakers, amps, subs)

*Minor bodywork (tint, grill, lights etc)

*Intake

*Springs

*Front Strut

*Rear Sway

*Exhaust & Headers

*Clutch, Fly and Brakes

*Turbo/Supercharger & ECU

*Engine internals (to increase boost pressure)

*Major Bodywork (skirts, bumpers, bonnets)

And voila! You have a beast fit for the showroom, the track, the family garage and the drive to work each day!

And Voila! you just spent more than what the car is worth so you might as well have actually bought a $40k car that will go alot better than a $20k car with $20k spent on it. Edited by IZZ-FE
