Where to buy 75w90 gearbox oil?

Recommended Posts

As I'm doing the clutch on my corolla sportivo very soon guys, I went into Supercheap / Repco today and I could only find 75w90 in 1 litre bottles - I'll need 3 of these to do the gearbox. (Takes 2.3 litres I think?)

Anyway they had some there in 4 litre containers which were quite cheap but none in 75w90. Any other recommendations on what I could use? Didn't seem to be anything in 4 / 5 litre size in the 75w90 type.

Cheers

http://www.nulon.com..._Transaxle_Oil/ is what I use.

This should be available at pretty much every automotive store, such as Autobarn, Repco and Supercheap. Seems really odd they didn't have it.

Worst case an 80W-90 will also work just fine in most applications provided it is a manual transmission oil.

Double check the specs in the manual for your Corolla (It's a ZZE isn't it?) as the Penrite site recommends the above and the refill capacity as 1.9L so you probably only need 2x1L bottles

Remember to remove the filler plug before the drain plug, last thing you want is an unfillable gearbox in a car that can't be driven due to no gearbox oil :)

The sportivo gearbox needs 2.3L. The 1zzfe manual corolla gearboxes need 1.9L. make sure you open the right filler plug on the box. the correct one can be seen here (thanks to superdave for the photo :))
