  1. mmm i now we all at the end of the day consider the Aurion as just a glorified V6 Camry but it actually has many unique parts all to self an many of these parts are from the A pillar forward to carter for its power train and to increase stability. the bumper, reo's tie rails, rad supports fenders and bonnet are unique to Aurion as if the front of the chassis, it's rails are different and spaced further apart as Aurion has a wider track and obviously a much larger engine, for example you simple couldn’t bolt a 2GR-FE into a Camry there is a number of key difference to the cars underpinnings to carter for their different engines so I’m summary whilst yes technically it would be possible to graphed a Camry front onto Aurion and vice versa it wouldn’t be easy or a sensible economic choice to do so but sure if your keen to give it crack good luck with it :)
  2. Well after a bit of research and many reviews i settled on the Australian brand Daviescraig who appear to be really quite respected when it comes to coolers, water pumps, switches and piping etc I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that they must be tied up with PWR (Paul Wheel Racing) as you can tell there has been a rubbish attempt of disguising the PWR logo under the daviescraig sticker so im not sure if davies makes them for PWR or vice-versa but i have laid eye on a PWR one that is damm identical(but in saying that a cooler is a cooler the look of them doesn’t differ massively) anyway then i just when through the davies, craig catalogue til i found one that would both fit and suit the Aurion in dimension and performance and naturally the perfect fit happens to be the one for a Commodore or Falcon 6cyl was a bit of a no brainer! From memory the part number was 0677. I looked at both the TRD and MCV36 Sportivo coolers as the GSV40 Sportivo has the studs already on the lower tie-rail to bolt the TRD cooler straight up but it was priced at like $230 and the MCV36 (which did look different so probably wouldn’t bolt straight up) was more at $270 so was hard to justify the expense of the genuine product when there are products out there from companies that make them for race cars etc for a competitive price and certainly there isn’t a worry about the quality. an oil cooler does sound like an ideal thing for you but since the specs of these coolers are judged of them been in a chain with the factory cooling system you would need to get a bigger cooler then you would if you was doing it in a chain for example if i had bypassed the factory system that is not run it through the lower part of the radiator still i would of needed to go for a big cooler to compensate but yes sounds like an external cooler would be the go.
  3. Your not wrong, Aurion has quite a good factory audio system which is even more amazing when you actually see the speakers because they are nasty quality suckers! The head unit on the facelift Aurion makes the sound even better as the amp is of a higher quality but for a stock system it's not bad. Stick some half decent speakers in it and you'll be away!
  4. Just thought this may interest a few of you fella's On the last road trip we did i we was chasing down WRX's so had to give the ZR6 a fair work out (was one good way of sorting out what had to be done with the coil over’s) anyway the transmission copped a fair bit of man handling and whilst it didn’t slip or flare i did feel that perhaps the transmission didn't appreciate the caning. Paradigm on the other hand who ran out of brakes who was perhaps even harsher on his gearbox to compensate did mention it perhaps wasn’t working as well as we would normally expect from it. So i did a little bit of research and found it to be a reasonable cheap as far as mods go so i have now fitted a Transmission oil cooler to my car to keep things cool :) Most of these coolers can reduce transmission fluid by 30 degrees and in general a 11 degree drop can double the life of the fluid and greatly increase the life of the transmission itself and stop it slipping or flaring under extreme conditions. It seems somewhat strange that Aust delivered Aurion’s do not have and external transmission cooler (with the exception of TRD model) as from what i can tell the Middle East export ones do. Also MCV36 Camry Sportivo also has one. Aurion's transmission however does however run through the bottom section of the radiator. All we simple did was fit some 10mm oil cooler hose from the outlet of the radiator and pipe that to the inlet of the external cooler then ran another pipe from that outlet and ran it back to the transmission however this did need a change to the fitting on the inlet of the transmission as that has a 90degree bend in to fit up nicely with the stock piping then all was left to do was to find the check and "filler" plug on the gearbox and top it back up run the engine for a bit to check for leaks. We did have a minor one which was coming from the washer on the new fitting which was soon sorted no biggie. Only other drama we had was that for some strange reason we tripped a VSC sensor as the check VSC appeared on the dash, but i suspect that may of had something to do with me fiddling with the two VSC relays (all I did was push down on them to make sure they was in properly lol) and then the check engine light came on. i stopped the car turned it back on and it went off but as we was at work we ran the I.T over it and a code did come up which from what i gather basically was to say that you’ve tripped a sensor on the transmission when we was pulling hoses off also no biggie and just to be safe we cleared the code despite the engine light not turning back on again when i restarted the car. Other than that it was a pretty easy mod and one that should make a difference when the going gets tough! I’ve put a few pics up on my gallery if your interested :)
  5. Oil Cooler and lower grill mesh is in :)

  6. Congrats on your purchase and welcome to the club :) i wouldnt be at all worried about the fuel read out either
  7. so had a bit of a poke around and came up with not a great deal sorry, so guess your just an unlucky one with yours giving up the ghost lol. Part number for the Tensioner is 1662031040 and it has a RRP of around $408.00 thankfully everything else in that area like the idler pulleys, vane pump and pulley is priced not to badly :) Tensioner is in stock as well.
  8. Well now this will depend on your extended warranty, is it Toyotas extended 6 year warranty or a used car warranty or another one from a third party? if it's a dealer warranty then you are only covered if you get serviced at the dealer other than that as long as you have always had genuine parts and the right kind of oil in the car your warranty should be fine and to be honest guys Toyota is very good with its warranty many manufactures will try and get out or warranty work but the Toyota warranty actually means something and worth the bit of paper its written on so i wouldn’t be too stressed.
  9. Guys ill check up tomorrow on the price of the tensioner and check to see if there is a bulletin out on the issue, usually what will happen is if a dealer comes across the issue a couple of times they’ll submit a report to Toyota, once TMCA receive enough to believe there could be a potential issue they look into it and find a fix if there is indeed an issue. Also its quite correct that TRD has released a shorter belt for the 2GR-FZE original number from memory and at an educated guess was 90916-YWQ01 which has been superseded by 90916-YWQ03 but again that's off the top of my head.
  10. One year at a time. Let the QLD guys get this year sorted, done and dusted, then we discuss more options. Lol was really only providing a little bit of humour, it'd be a big call to bring the national meet across the Strait :)
  11. Looks like Pardigm isnt the only one with Blue calipers now then i like them looks good!
  12. What's that? road trip to Tassie next year lol
  13. Benji seems to think so But this is in comparison from stock to 23mm. I see what Adamsy means though. It would be interesting to have a comparison of the 19mm and the 23mm on the same suspension setup to see what differences there are. It's like when people say that a free-flowing exhaust is always better when in fact, it isn't always the case despite what people say from their experience. Mm yeah I’m just not sure if the Luxury model specs favour dynamic ability enough to really use the extra gains bigger bar may give the Aurion? you may be able to use it a bit more in the Sportivo or TRD as they have higher levels of mechanical grip, are stiffer and suspension tune is firmer which overall gives the car a higher dynamic ability to use the bar if you know what i mean? i just can’t quit put it into words what i mean lol. i would think that you would tap out the suspension and tyres on a prodigy before you had wrung the neck out of all the performance gains he 19mm bar could offer over stock? i really can’t say for sure as it's been quite some time since I’ve driven a prodigy or Presara and i don’t think I’ve ever driven an AT-X but yeah i wouldn’t want you to get your hopes up about the 23mm bar and then have it deliver not much more than the 19mm and it disappoints you? That’s all
  14. MMM a 23mm rear bar is going to give a Prodigy a pretty stiff rear end i would think? Which kind of begs the questions is the rest of the car up too extracting the benefits the 23mm would bring in a skilful drivers hands over a 19mm bar? i know this seems like a pretty cheap way of making it handle better but is the tyres and suspension/chassis going to let you be able to get the full benefits of this bigger bar?
  15. Do it Scott do it :P I’m still keen to put a Fujita CAI on mine but slightly turned off by where the filter sits, seems a little bit venerable to me.

    Carbon Tax

Sadly enough we are almost paying $1.70 for Bp ultimate here in Tassie :( although to be fair i was surprised to of "only" paid 1.62 down the west coast the other week. I can't see how taxing everyday Australians is going to fix a worldwide issue.. i mean yes sure we may not quite drive as much or use as much throttle but we still have to eat live shower and get to work, what really can we majorly change to these life requirements that are going to make huge differences? Sure ever little bit helps but the entire world needs to their bit not one country of 22million people. Slightly off topic but another thing that annoys me is the fact we send hundreds and hundreds of millions of $$ away to overseas when there’s an ear quake tsunami volcano hurricane floods etc and yet have o tax our own people when we have our own crisis because we can’t afford to help them. It’s the Australian way to help each other in times of need and I’m not against that but maybe we should be looking after our own first before other countries. i would of skitzed if we had given NZ any substantial donation for the quake relief whilst were been taxed to help fund your floods. Nothing against NZ i quite like the country, i got to experience it quite a lot in my past job and enjoy the place but it still would have got me to see fire engine red!
  17. The Sportivo's will suffer slightly less from torque and steer axle tramp than the standard or luxury specs because Sportivo has bigger wheels with firmer suspension and a "sharper" stiffer chassis, I've noticed that since having coil over’s torque seems greatly reduced and axle trapping in near as makes no difference all gone even in the wet. Bloody good thing!
  18. there is some kits available on ebay with are a similer fashion to VW, Audi Merc HSV but arent quite as in your face becuase there only 6 LED instead of 12 or more, i bit the bullet and got a kit just for Giggles will post up some images when it arives.
  19. thinks its time to mess the lower grill, pulled some hardcore sized grasshoppers out of my condensor :S

  20. Oh that's a good thing :) reading it again im not sure it's a vry good discription haha
  21. Ner ner, ner ner i told you so haha :) Forever i did forget to check the price of them and if we had them, I'd say we'd have a few million on the shelf though
  22. Hey guys i know this is an old thread but this one seems as appropriate as any other to post this question on. Has anybody fitted a transmission cooler to their Aurion similar to that as fitted to the TRD & MCV36 Sportivo? they seem to be such a dead easy thing to fit and with the sort of road trips we do down here in Tassie they seem like a bit of a no brainer to have to keep the transmission in its ideal operating zone and extend its life as they tend to cop a bit of a hard time on our Targa roads i know it may seem a bit overkill but id sooner be overkill than potential damage or shorted the gearbox's life
  23. Cruise was interesting, Coilovers took some time to dial in - still needs plenty of work too! is thinking a transmission might not be such a bad idea either poor thing got a work out today, even had the TRD brakes on their limits for a few sections. Good fun but plenty of suspension fine tuning to be done!

yeah anyone that thinks these can be sorted straight out of the box is kidding themselves, there is a bit of setup work for personal preferences...keep tinkering mate :)

I think you mean "transmission cooler" chief! lol. Yeah, fun day it was, what with my cooking of brakes and lack of traction!

  24. Cruise tomorrow :) keen as
