define Street cred though? Your idea of street cred would be different to mine and of course different to the next persons??? It sounds like what your after if a vehicle that has the lure of surprise and that turns people’s heads, Aurion has this in spades i mean when you see a nicely done up Aurion it does catch your attention because you dont know what it is (well ofourse we do but other don’t) then they see the Toyota badge and think wtf! as if that’s a Toyota! Then we want too know all about Aurion as most of them are not familiar with the car and it is and why it even exists. then of course Aurion actually has the power train to back up eye catching looks, and the fact that there rare especially done up Sportivo’s just helps the cause, really would you want to join the other million billion people that drive SV6's or XR6's? Every second car is either one of them!

WTF all i can say is WTF???? I’m guessing it's been put in the Camry section so that the Aurion owners didn’t commit mass murder? For a starter the Aurion by far has the best resale value of it's class by many thousands of dollars when compared to Falcon and commodore this is even more impressive when you consider that the list price of my Aurion models is cheaper than there other local rivals. even car sales came to the Aurion’s defence when fords new president had a crack at the sales volumes of Aurion(that is in the Aust market anyway) and it's resale totally forgetting to check his facts on his own car that sells in pissy little numbers and by far had the worst resale of every car in its class... say it now KNOBBER! Like other have said if the Aurion has no street cred and is bland then what is Camry? as Aurion betters Camry in every way, looks meaner and sleeker handles and steers better than the floaty Camry and the interior isn’t so i dunno "drab" it feels more alive with its "shadow chrome accents" Power train is in another universe far more refined package fuel consumption is basically the same without it sounded stressed the auto is far bit cleverer. i drove a Camry alteva L (which i assume must be the LE model before touring) and i couldn’t not wait to get into my car, felt nothing at all like my car but to be fair this was a fleet car that looked as if it had been washed with steel wool so god knows how it had been treated! But i can’t honestly see why you'd bother going Camry when there is such a small price difference between it at the ATX. I love hybrid Camry but could not settle for the rest of Camry range after Aurion. and before you start saying Aurion is just a v6 Camry thats only half true, Aurion only shares the basic platform, roof and doors with Camry, front and rear of the chassis is different and braced to buggery suspension slightly different and body panels different and then the rest of the changes are pretty obvious. the massive torque steer issue was really a media beat up by the falcodore doors because Toyota had them on the run when Aurion was launched, sure the standard atx will tug a bit under a hefty throttle input but you’re not going to put it in a tree because of it and you soon learn how to adjust to a powerful fwd if you do like to drive hard. Finally Sportivo models have been praised for their dynamic ability the dent in its dynamics really was the pathetic wheel/tyre combo from factory that really wasn’t up to the task, put some commodore sized wheels on them and it makes a big difference. Really should of had 18x8 as standard.' ok rant over :)

yeah looking at those pics and as nice as it does look sitting that low your only option to solve that scrub issue would be to go up a few MM's front and rear. Plus those Camber bolt kits would always help out alot :)

I'm a thinking its off a commodore but not a factory kit, some cheap aftermarket knock off. trying to give a VT/VX a bit of a VZ look whilst retaining it's OE grill. gahhhh!

Hi Joseph, Yes you are quite correct the TRD versions are 15mm lower with a slightly stiffer spring rate. To replicate the TRD suspension you can buy the different springs and shocks from Toyota but it works out quite dear and you may as well throw a few hundred more $$ at it and buy coil over’s which would yield a better results in terms of handling, body control and ride quality. Most of us have opted for either Kings springs which sit the car about 25mm-32mm lower with obvious body control benefits. Or Peddars and Lovell that sit the car a little bit lower again. So just depends what look you’re after and what sort of handling, ride quality compromise you’re chasing.

This is awesome as, you'd have to be happy with how its come up yeah? does it feel any different to drive?

lol this is a easy one, your not supposed too :)They make these ones pretty cheap so that you just replace the whole unit every 4ish years instead of just the battery. The case can be opened up but you'll see the battery is held firmly in place with a solder. :) How much are they? I see one on Ebay for $69.95 There is to remotes around for the avalon and 36 series camry there is the one like what's in that image 89780-YF011 RRP$61.60 and one which also has the boot release in it 89780-YF021 $63.25 RRP

Very good point. Completely didn't think about that (obviously). Makes sense though considering my last car was the SX6. YEAH that was my thought exactly - the SX6 bit i mean lol. So yeah i hope that helps out :) Was a good thing to look up actually so thanks ha

Cheers mate. It's just one of those curiosity things. I figured my Sportivo was built close to the same date as my TRD and the "COLUMN ASSY, STEERING" was of a lesser part number "45250-06510". One would think that the TRD would have been fitted with the same part number, not the one I mentioned above "45250-06520". If that's the case, I was trying to think why it would be changed on mine. As for the intermediate shaft... well I just got home after picking my TRD up around 10pm as estimated. All I can say is that: 1) My alignment is fixed. Prior to this, the steering had a minor tilt anti-clockwise when travelling straight. Then again, it's last alignment was at 18,000km. 2) The steering feels like it has less play in it, and 3) There is no knocking sound. But based on what happened last service, 2 and 3 are probably just a placebo thing. On inspection of the new shaft (sorry I don't have photos to properly show this), the most significant difference I have noticed visually is that the universal joint on it has more durable looking bushes on it. I would be guessing that this would be to eliminate any potential play that can come from there and maybe cause some noise. Either way, 7 days out of warranty and I now have a new intermediate shaft. Everything was handled so smoothly and I am one satisfied customer. Hi Mate, So Ive had a quick look at the part numbers and both of those you have are "good" numbers: now 45250-06510 fits the Prodigy, Touring & Sportivo SX6 Where as 45250-061520 fits Presara, Sportivo ZR6 and TRD 3500SL, Also HSD Camry also uses the Faster Aurion Rack too. Most obvious difference between them is one seems to fit all Smart start/entry cars and the other one fits those cars with out it. Now my best guess would be that the steering lock would be different on these cars, key and barrel on the right, starter button the left so the "pin" is probably on the opposite side to normal? Also the Shaft Assy,Steering intermediate 45220-06131 supersedes to 45220-06132 on all Aurion models

Hey DJ, ill check and refresh my memory with the dealer bulletin in regards to the shaft and its part numbers, let me come back to you. It's possible the part number has been Superseded.

Just a tip as well if you decide to re-trim your seats. At the same time, see if you can get some extra side bolstering like the TRD. Depending on how hard you like to corner, the extra support is quite comforting. HEY Yeah thats a good point, after driving TRD's half a dozen time now every time i settle into the seats i find myself thinking o geez these seats are much better! so some extra support would go down alright lol.

Must of blocked it out because secretly we all know its rubbish lol. wow seems if you can make the MWR stuff fit up then there is pretty good gains to be had, any idea how hard it was to get the system to not throw error codes? id be pretty keen to give headers and twin pipes into the cat a crack!

Sounds like off the rear bank you will have to fabricate another section to link it to the exhaust? Although just running single pipes and joining them before a high flow cat would be the go i think? Also the Fujita system? didn’t we discuss that this system and the K&N one actually only give you a nice induction roar as the Aurion’s computers figures out that you’ve shoved more air into it and then cuts it back to factory, as opposed to most systems that match the higher air flow with more fuel actually equalling in more power?

This is pretty much spot on, should take no more than 5 seconds, if your too slow it won't work. Also make sure all doors are shut or program mode can’t be entered, If for some reason after you've cycled the lock back and forward 3 times and have pressed the button and it doesn’t work, then wait 10 seconds and open the door close it again and hit the button again, for some reason sometimes it takes a little longer than it should for it to work. 120 series Prado’s and non smart start Aurion’s sometimes just don’t want to play the game!

These engines are rather noisy and the 'issue' you have described is nothing out of the ordinary for these engines and something that you won't really be able to get fixed. There is another knocking noise on cold startup to be made aware of though. It happens for a couple/few seconds at the most and is rather loud like marbles in a can. It's caused by the VVT-i controller and in most cases, it only occurs around the 15,000km mark for the non-TRD, and around the 10,000km mark for the TRD. An oil and filter change gets rid of it though and it doesn't seem to have any detrimental effects otherwise. DAMM YOU & YOUR S/C Aurion DJ LOL :)

Haha, yeh I did think of that one lol. I now feel like an idiot asking that question, but the only reason I asked was because it was a second hand car with warranty and I need to make sure everything is working. I also typical have recently bought a second hand SX6 Aurion 2008 model in blue. My alarm sounds like a 'faintish' typical alarm sound, no a horn sound which is bloody annoying and hence why I unplugged it on my previous Toyota Camry. I also have a question if others can help as I still have a year of new car warranty left to go......When starting the car from cold,there is a slight knocking noise in the engine bay (quiet but still audible to me) for the first couple minutes but goes away when the temp reaches normal op. temperature. I have driven slowly to see if it's still there and it is, but not as loud. Also is the rear badge AURIONSX6 a stick on or has hole locators? Sorry to high jack your post tim The noise your hearing is sort of normal for the 2GR, you hear it in some cars more than others and some like my car doesnt ever exhibit the noise/knock. I'm not sure with it gets worse or better with more kays or different fuel types or if its a climate thing but it's nothing to worry about. :) All the badge other than the 3 eclipse bulls head emblem on the grill and boot are adhesive that can (with care) be removed pretty easily.

Congrats mate on your buy, youve done well the SX6 comes pretty well kitted these days. The face lifted model does seem to make series one look a little dated at the rear hay? However Im not a fan of the way the L.E.D's dont actually look like LEDS in the new lamps, in the first model you could clearly the see the distinct circle of LEDS which look pretty wicked. I'm a bigger fan of the Thai HSD Camry with its red section and light blue tinge than the face lifted lamps. Nice choices though enjoy the car and keep us posted on any mods you decide to make :) Also the leather looks pretty good, looks very close to that of the factory leather in a Presara, Red would of being awesome, i once seen a black ZR6 that had patches like the lumber support area done in red and the steering wheel and gear shifter and the "Sportivo" shadowed in red, looked awesome. I'd love the same done in my car, in blue though Obviously lol.

lol yeah its a beer adm throws crap in to the water and it turns into a ski boat and stuff then at the end hepushes his gf in th water haha i rate that, the other half didnt find that part overly funny though haha
