  1. you need to keep the airbag there for legal reasons. best option is to find a 3 spoke toyota wheel from a sportivo or a TRD one, but they are pretty expensive.
  2. or a 3 door ;) as for the prices of cars in Australia, take into account we don't get snow in any major centres, don't salt roads and hence have low rust levels. Our air is pretty salt free as long as you live more than a couple of kms from a beach.
  3. NGK spark plugs, Mobil 1 synthetic 10W30 oil... use the Toyota oil filter. The cost is only marginally more than the Ryco one and it's a better design and fit, as well as being slightly larger.
  4. anyone in Sydney that wants to double check is free to borrow the ones I have here for sizing purposes.
  5. as with what suprathai said, it would be a downgrade so not worth it at all. what you could do is use the ST202 calipers with some ST202 rotors which have had 3 more holes to drill to 4x100. That way you will get the 28mm thick rotor you need for them, they already have the 55mm internal diameter to go on the hub and are the same 275mm diameter, would be an easy upgrade. I have some ST202 calipers sitting here as I looked into doing this on my MR2 but I'm going to stick with a single piston caliper, mostly due to weight.
  6. wow... this forum is so up with the times... welcome to 2004
  7. not a lot of progress. I have gotten married and moved up to Sydney in the last 6 months and we are saving to buy a place so not a lot of cash to splash around, but I have managed a few things here and there. I'm looking at fitting a roll cage soon, I've also got a few more brake calipers so I can compare a few fittments and caliper configurations on the front end, also getting some SW20 Turbo rear calipers to allow a vented disc on the rear. I've bought some Velo GP-90 seats to fit, but yet to fit them, and also ungraded to some sticky rubber (Kumho V70A) hunt for and engine has been put on hold until the current engine dies. To be honest I'm likeing the little 4A, it lacks in a straight line for sure, but it so much fun around the twisty stuff and so well balanced.
  8. guys, is there any more info on this Brash Boys harness? Is it an entire engine harness or is it simply a fields type harness? The price seems to indicate the former...

    AW11

you're kidding right? my corner speeds are higher in the AW11 then they ever were in the Sportivo (both on street tyres, AW on stock suspension, the Stivo on coilovers) Unfortunately my AW is NA, so is gutless down the straight. If you want FAST... go for an AW11 and put a 2ZZ-GE in it :P

    MR2 Owners

    nah, I'd rather a Lotus Exige :)
  11. you can't import for race/rally use only without a CAMS permit as well. You need a racing level licence to be able to get an import permit too, not just a standard Level 2S licence.
  12. I want a set of them... anyone know where to get them?
  13. I'm not sure they are eligable for import any more... you would have to check. Ralyrt used a JDM base car for the conversion. You could talk to Al Palmer and see what he knows.
  14. You might need to clarify exactly what you mean by "college". In Australia, college (when used in relation to university) generally refers to on-campus student accommodation. Actually these days it's a bridge between Uni and the outside world. It's mostly used by International Students who have to do a semester of english training before starting their degree. It is also used by early entry High School students to get a headstart on their chosen degree pathway. UTS, Macquarie and UOW all have a university college system that I know of. Flinders University in Adelaide also offers the service.
  15. 1G-GTE is a proven conversion 1J-GTE is a better engine, though a very tight squeeze into the engine bay. Ether of those are the way to go.
  16. the 'turn iphone into a paperweight' application is a good one.
  17. worst thread EVER.... EVER!!!!
  18. My wheels are from Tempe. Been great the whole time I've had them, in fact they guys at the last tyre place I went to te get new tyres fitted commented on how great they were to balance so they can't be too bad. It all depends on the wheels that you get I guess.
  19. There was a period of time at Uni of Adelaide that they handed an 'Arts Degree' to all Engineering students, who succesfully completed the enrollment process, at their induction.
  20. I can see you have never had to deal with a deadbeat who can't pay jack before... I said per MONTH for starters... $50 is ever a bit generous, I've seen cases where the guilty party 'can only afford to pay' $8 per week. And this figure is SET for the entire time of the repayment 'plan' and is not adjusted with changes in circumstance. It doesn't matter what the sum to be repaid is, if it's only $500 then they pay at whatever is deemed to be a managable figure according to their financial records, if it is $30,000 it's still the same figure. I just just figuring the guy was a deadbeat by his refusal to do anything remotely humane towards our victom here, but seems to be going around a bit these days, especially with unlicenced drivers in Qld...
  21. how do you claim damages back from someone with no money? All you will see is $50 installments every month for the next eleventy billion years.
