  1. All good here mate, thankfully. No where to go except work, home, work, home...Keeping a low profile with this CCP virus getting around..
  2. My lack of carport/garage or any enclosed space has had me defer the ceramic coating of my glass as it needs curing time and be shielded from airborne contamination whilst it cures. This is why Ive continued with the Rain-X product as it's more forgiving.
  3. Never tried that actually, but it is one method used to decontamine the glass. It's the first step in the pre prep to applying ceramic coating on glass. I recently purchased a hand squeegy to squeegy the glass if I get stuck, say doing the wheels or undercarriage, so the glass doesn't spot rather than having to remember to keep wetting the car. I'll be putting up a carport soon, hopefully and won't have to worry so much about this anymore.
  4. That makes sense because as they approach the end of production run for the model they like to throw in as much standard equipment as possible to tickle the customer. So I'm thinking the 2009 didn't get it standard but 2010 and onward did. Also if they used it for police work, the radio may have fouled the button so removing it made sense as it can't be reached anyway. You'd think they'd leave it in the glovebox upon retirement of the vehicle, it could be put back. There are plenty of wreckers on Ebay so I reckon you'd pick one up pretty cheaply.
  5. I thought it was a mineral based fluid. That was the general consensus anyway.
  6. From my research, it seems the rear sunshade was standard on all Presara models, early and late, then during the latter years it was extended to the Prodigy. According to Redbook official specs for the ZR6, no such option existed in 2009 for the sunshade apart from sunroof and sat nav. So I would tend to think the original owner opted for the sunshade as a 'special' order. Rain sensing wipers was also not standard (as per the video). If you have a hole where the button is supposed to be then it's most likely someone has nicked it. Have you confirmed if it even has a rear sunshade ? If not, then then it's possible that part was swapped out for one with the button hole.
  7. That is a great tip actually. For those who regularly use their windscreen washer, I'd advocate this. My OCD has me cleaning the windscreen and blades before I set off so I don't have water spray everywhere and the potential for the wipers to smear the glass. I use the Rain-X glass cleaner/ sealer for this. This also helps prevent the build up of water spotting too. If you're like me, who doesn't have a carport (yet) and has to wash his car in the sun (morning sun actually) the potential for water spotting is great and so I have to try and continuously keep the car wet whilst going around it to keep the spots from forming. Sometimes it beats me and I get the dreaded water spotting but because it's only superficial, they are quickly removed with the glass treatment regime I do and the existing coating on the glass prevents the minerals from biting in. Naked, untreated glass will give you harder time dealing with water spotting I have found.
  8. Welcome back mate. I think you're right Tommy. THIS shows all OBDII compliant vehicles in Australia.
  9. My Dad phoned me last week, a couple of days prior to doing his oil service, telling me that he's at Supercheap Auto. I asked him what he was doing there and he tells me he went to buy oil and a filter for the upcoming service i was going to carry out for him. Being the proud man that he is, he didn't want me paying for anything and thought he'd ask me which oil it was so he could buy them. I promptly told him not to buy anything as I already have the oil and filter ready. Anyway, had he purchased he would've paid full mug retail. The very next day the specials came and the oil was half price ! When I told him this, he was shocked, lol. I told him never to go in there without talking to me first. I think it was lesson learned. God bless him. He's so humble.
  10. I must clarify. The Nulons are mine and I'm giving the Penrites to my Dad for his Aurion. So my stash is 29 litres, 2 behind you G.
  11. Mine sounds similar too actually. I've yet to upload a video. ( will soon) I think that sound you're hearing is just the movement of the pistons, that sucking sound. Not sure how else to explain it.
  12. Hi Stephen, to my knowledge, I've never heard of anyone here who has so you may be the Pioneer who may have to lead the way on this one. Us old farts aren't into doof doof all that much and most prefer the stock set up. I used to like a bit of sub woofer action when I was younger, I must admit, but it really annoys me these days, especially when I have Morons who must drive around at past midnight with a droning dooof loud enough to rattle the windows in my house and loud enough to wake the dead too. That's so annoying so much so that I'd like to throw a brick at their car as they drive past. Don't let this detract you from your project. I'm sure you're not one of these people, so enjoy it and share with the rest of us if you like if and when you get it done. There are still some car stereo places around that may be able to help i'm sure. Welcome to the forum by the way. Sorry for my little rant.
  13. Strange how the button is missing. Did you purchase it privately or from a yard ?
  14. Excellent tip mate. You're spot on using the BKF product Robert, as it is acidic in nature and exactly what you need to dissolve those nasty calcium and magnesium deposits. Unfortunately, glass cleaner, clay bar and polish won't cut it. You need something that can dissolve the minerals first. The aforementioned products only clean and remove air borne contamination, not water etching. Rain water isn't anywhere near as bad as tap water in terms of mineral content. Our tap water is quite hard and for this, if you ever rinse your car with the garden hose and are in a hurry and can't dry the entire vehicle, take the time to wipe the glass at the very least to avoid the hard water spotting otherwise etching will occur and then you'll need some BKF as you mention Robert and or Ceriglass with a Rayon pad if the etching has really dug in. Ceriglass will also remove the streaking caused by worn wiper blades. I keep a hand squeegy ready whilst washing for moments like this. Sometimes the glass has a tendency to dry before you finish the wash so I either have to re wet the car over or squeegy the glass. Then in the final part I apply the Rain-X Glass cleaner / repellent.
  15. Did the 40 series ZR6 have the sunshade at all ? I thought it was a Presara only addition.
  16. Here's my recent order from SCA. I wanted to order three, but they put a two per customer limit. No problem. When I went to the store, I picked up my order, took them to my car and walked back in and purchased the third . The check out chick was really cool. ("I didn't see you", lol, she remarked) Then I dug out the rest of my stash. I didn't realise I had so much. The Penrite, I'm saving for Dad's oil services and the Nulon will be mine. I did the oil service for my Dad's car on Friday and gave it a full wash, decontamination, clay, polish and paint sealant all in one day. I didn't get a chance to get photos of the finished product because it was too dark by the time I finished and the lighting wouldn't do it any justice. My Dad is totally amazed how good it looks lol.. I'll get some pics on the next maintenance wash/detail.
  17. Fuel has nothing to do with how the transmission shifts. I know many of you love the idea of using 98 as opposed to 91 and can I just say, it's really a waste of money the 98. I've been using E10 and 91 for years and my car runs just fine. I've recently had the fuel filter assembly out and there was no indication that either the E10 or 91 has been contributing to any contamination that would make me think either were bad. You have to remember, The Aurion was optimized for E10, so it could be either E10, 91 or even 95. You choose. 98 is really overkill for this car unless the manufacturer specifies this. For example, my BMW M3 is a 98 octane only car and it's the only fuel I put in that because it's optimized to use 98. Occasionally we use 95 and it's all good. If you must use premium, stick with 95 as the ECU can't adjust that far up to accommodate the 98. There was some discussion about this somewhere here. Can't recall where. Maybe someone else can link it.
  18. Luke, you need to find out if this was actually done. If not, then it should be looked at promptly. Ashley also pointing to the fluid level is another thing to keep in mind before you suspect anything more is going on.
  19. Love to see it. Any pics you can upload ? I was looking to install one but haven't decided on which one suits my fancy. Then there's the price too.
  20. You're a Legend, Thanks ! Just ordered 3, got a retro Tin Sign for free too lol.. What a bargain.
  21. It harks back to a time when everything was cheap. That's like 1980's prices lol.
  22. Man, that is a bargain. It would be excellent for Corolla and Camry owners who have a sub 5lt oil fill capacity. As tempting as it is, I'd rather stick with the same oil I've been using. I trust the Nulon oil and to date, I have zero sludging and not even as much as oil stained components. Testament to the excellent quality of the Nulon product.
  23. Sparesbox have a current special on oils but this one in particular is for Nulon. It's an ok price but I think I'll wait for the upcoming Supercheap catalogue 😁 I know they will be even cheaper.
  24. This would be a welcome time because I have to do the oil service on my dad's 2013 Aurion this Saturday and will be using oil from my stock. So a restock will be in order. I've also decided to just keep using the Nulon for mine as I've always only used this and the Penrite stock I have I'll give to my Dad and then keep using that for his car. This has come about because poor Dad has been ripped by a local mechanic shop and I had no idea until I asked to see the invoice. I told him not to go back there and that I will do the servicing for him from now on. Sheesh. Can't trust anyone anymore.
