  1. I have a very different view on things. I am willing and have spent far more that that on mine. It's up to the individual.
  2. There are, but you will need to cough up large amounts of money to make it happen.
  3. Bangtown hasn't been online for over a year. If you can't reach him via PM, there is no other way. Please only create one topic per subject, regardless of which forum you post in.
  4. Closed. Please only create one post per topic.
  5. None of these. I would use a smaller mechanic in your area.
  6. You have next to no chance of finding one. It's just a Harrop HTV1320. I think you are vastly underestimating the work required to make it function correctly.
  7. How old would you like it to be? The Hilux holds its value, so it can be harder to find a bargain.
  8. You don't have to continue log book services once warranty has expired. I usually do basic oil and filter services every 5,000km and follow the log book for all other fluids.
  9. Dashboard shouldn't melt regardless. There are fixes if under 10 years now. We had the dash melt and VVT-i rattle(well serviced). A few early component failures and the annoyance to work on is another factor of us selling. Sold with just over 100,000 km, we bought at 30,000km. It's a personal preference, I just wouldn't own another.
  10. No chance for anywhere near $15K. That being said, I'd personally never own one again. The other issue to be aware of is the melting dashboards.
  11. As late as you can afford. The early engine issues were fixed in the later productions. Maintenance costs are generally reasonably; however, repairs can be quite costly due to access issues. They are not the most maintenace-friendly vehicle.
  12. Have you got the correct regulator for the alternator? Pics of those may help.
  13. Will fit and shouldn't have any negative effects. You would probably be better off staying with the 215/60R16 and going with something like a Bridgestone RE003. I don't think they have an offering in 225/55R16 though.
  14. As Ashley said, make your questions more specific with more background information. If this is not possible take it to a mechanic, they usually quote for free anyway.
  15. Keep a spare keyfob battery in the car.
  16. Highly unlikey. Do you still have red coolant or has it been changed to green? Auto trans fluid should be check in neutral with the engine running.
