    I would think you will have a hard time getting anything covered by warranty. I wouldn't say it is a common issue. Being that are from the NT, isn't there an issue with carpets moulding due to humidity, hence most houses being tile floors?     It may be worth trying to get your hands on an endoscope to look through the vents. They may have ingested some leaves or other debris that is staying wet and causing the mould. You can get ones that connect to a mobile phone now.

    The backlog is because Toyota can only produce a certain number of lines per period of time. There are probably millions of 2GR engines worldwide. There is a good chance that may not be able to obtain stock.
