Tuesday to Friday this week has been hectic!!!

- Changed rear toe bolts

- Changed rear calipers, pads and rotors

- Changed to braided lines all round, newer corolla ones on the rear, celica ones on the front! (ffffuuu HEL)

- Swapped pads and rotors on the front - left to right - so rotors are now facing the right way

- Changed driveshaft

- Changed front left hub

- Changed gearbox oil

- Changed air filter

- New wheel alignment

- New tyres fitted for monday :spiteful:

Car feels tremendously better! Heaps more grip than before even on skinny kumho tyres!! and there are no brakes at all.... that is until theyre warm then they're friggin fantastic!!

Also a couple of pics, because i know how you all like pics!

Tried on 10mm spacers on the rear for lols... its a bit too much poke for my liking, still didnt rub much though :P haha

Old vs. new axle... longer one was axle binding as it was too long :(

Stock vs. HEL brake lines... rears fit perfectly fine, the fronts didnt... luckily used Jo's Celica GT4 front braided lines which fit better than the "AE82" ones...

After all the work that I did on the car, I decided to go up to Winton on the Australia day public holiday with a few mates.

With the sole intention of having a good time and savoring the moment, I wasn’t really pushing for a PB, and with the scorcher of a day it was I knew that it wasn’t going to be easily achievable anyway unless I pulled out some crazy skills (which I don’t have lol)

First session:

Went out on track with Jo (woot woot), car felt really good, heaps of grip than ever before but the first thing I noticed was it was lacking a lot of power compared to last time, in fact I couldn’t even get it up past 140 on the straight! :( Everything else with the car was spot on though.

;)The vest and drinks and clamps were found, unfortunately the hose wasn’t. We hacked it up with some clippers to ditch the cracked edges and with some help from Frank we managed to pop the hose back on with proper clamps.I went for a spin around the pits and revved it a few times to get oil pressure up and seems like the leak had gone!... lets get back to racing!!

Third Session:

Managed to bring Bway along for a spin this time. The track was scorching hot at this stage. We warmed up the brakes and had a good dice with Andy and Mick in the sedan, and a very angry Gemini who got caught up in our fun.

The brakes got a good workout this session as we sat on the tails of the two cars ahead. Pretty sure Brian was surprised how well my brakes pulled up and the fact that there wasn’t even a hint of fade either ;) haha

The tyres unfortunately were goners after 2 laps and became really greasy, still they were very easy and predictable to drive on. They did give me a scare when they started vibrating whenever we turned right, but it was only a chunk of rubber stuck on the tyres lol

The car began to get hot and we brought her in early. The oil leaks had stopped, with only slight dripping, which we assumed was just the residue dripping off from before.

Last Session:

This time I decided to go out by myself, with no passenger and no passenger seat the car felt very different. A bit more taily and throwable in the corners, it did exactly what I wanted. There was only a slight increase in speed where I was now hitting 145 on the straights (I was getting 155 to 160 last time!)

I had Tim in his EP3R following me, and the cars were very even in lap times. I was quicker through the corners but on the straight I would lose any advantage I had worked hard for… there ended up being only 0.05 seconds between us at the end of the day! Not bad for the tired and smoky 82 against a well tuned K20!

Ended up with my best time of 1:45.1080 for the day.

I think if I had more seat time with myself alone in the car I could’ve taken half a second off easily, and if the weather was cooler another half a second. The motor on the straights drained any extra driving I did through the corners… :(

Big thanks to Jo, Steve, Brian, Andy and Frank for all their help and advice on the day, and to James for taking all the snaps! Much appreciated.

And to all those who came to the track day I am glad you all had a great time!! :)

Over the course of the 2 years that I have owned it, I have gone from a 1:49.6 to a PB of 1:44.4. There is more potential in the car but it always come to a point where you need to say enough is enough. It kills me to say this, but this brings a close to this chapter of the 82’s life…

With a few things popping up over the last couple of weeks this also means that I am unable to build the SX. This opens a new opportunity and something that I never thought would occur, but the 82 will be moving on toward the end of the year and many of my bits are already up for sale.
