WTF?!? THEY LOST YOUR SERVICE BOOK. make a complaint man!

woh! $370 for a service?!? are they on crack or something! what did they actually do to your car? for that much money you'd expect they would have replaced all the wear and tear bits and not just oil change, coolant, power steering fluids...et yada yada yada.

Re: Service Book and Warranty

That sounds pretty crap... I'll be due for my 5,000km service soon what should i do? one of my mates with close to 5,000km as well said he was just going to change the oil and filter himself, but does this void the warranty?

And how much should I be expecting to pay? ;)

:unsure::unsure: Artivo. :huh: <_<

Do I have to go to where I purchased the car? (City Toyota) or can any body rec'd some where please?

I too have that annoying sound when you brake when reversing and said nothing can be done about it...

I also complained to them about shifting gears in high revs and they told me it was fine after i took it in for a service. And there was only 2kms done in my car on that day from the service..

I agree with everyone here that toyota service has been lacking big time!!!:angry::angry:

I guess I understand everyone's pain but I don't know of any car manufacturer that is any different. All big companies tend to be less personal and they work on large fleets of cars a day, so how do we expect them to pay extra attention to our one car? I suggest that if you want personal specialised attention on your car, send it to a specialised mechanic that can give you the time of day cos they are less busy. Big companies have systems put in that don't allow them to pay extra attention to one car, that's just the way it is.

I can't say that I've had exceptional dealings with Toyota but I go there fully understand that that's the way they operate and if I don't like them, I'll just have to be content with a private mechanic.

I guess with stuff like admitting to mistakes, you do realise that once they admit to a mistake, they stand to lose millions of $$$, that's why only safety issues are dealt with first, stuff like power issues and rattles aren't really priority.

Woah, that was more than I had expected to say, but I thought that another side of the story needed to be presented....now give me my power upgrade!!! :D

spoke to them again today. Man they r not gona budge at all i guess i will keep harassing them every week or so. All i could get was that stupid pre-prepared statement by over priced lawyers. What i did do though is give them my customer satisfaction survey over the phone n now i await a phone call back from them as promised but from previous experience i shouldnt hold my breath cause it probably will never come............

I changed the oil and filter at 5,000km - from my re-collection the service manual only had a service interval at 10,000km.

Now I'm worried I might have missed it....

Boys, the 5,000 km service intervals are suplementary. You only need to do em if your car has abnormal use. Ie if you let it idle for hours, only ever make short trips in (under 10min) or drive stop start 100% of the time.

That said i left the same oil in my car for 10,000k's (synthetic at that) and when i drained it, it was discusting.

Boys

Toyota will try and try to hide the power issue as its going to cost them $$$ to fix the problem. I agree with you all in regards them passing the buck at any chance, and we all know about the power issue and when we call we get flobbed off like we are insignificant. HELLO!!!!! Umm we are customers, definition of a customer, someone who purchases goods or services, what did we do? We didnt steal the car did we, we bought it with our own money. Somehow i think we have a right to be angry because as consumers, we didnt get what we were

1. Told we were going to get

2. Mislead about the product

3. After sales service has been poor to say the least

Has anyone spoken to the insurance companies about any of the issues? If they are not aware of the problems, then im guessing our cars are falsely insured, could that hamper any claims?

We are forgetting that 80% of the people on this forum are Sportivo owners, and we are the people with the problems. Not the other corolla drivers (no offense), although if they want to help us in our plyth it would be greatly appreciated (more people = more power).

I wonder if all the melbourne/sydney/brisbane/adelaide/perth guys were to rock up and park at the head office of toyota in their respective state, would it make a big enough noise?

Just my opinion

e-gene i think your info is excellent. i have heard positive things about the service at melbourne city toyota and if i was to have my car serviced by toyota i think i would go there.

i have said before in other topics that toyota has never serviced my car. i do not have good faith in them and i do not like their prices. toyota has only touched my car for warranty repair because this is free of charge.

my log book is empty, there are no stamps or dates and i have never been asked to present it. please take note that i have no problem in getting warranty repair and i have had several repairs.

my next service i am changing mechanics. i have found a new mechanic (e-gene and arcxis has met him) and surprisingly we went to school together. my car is now going to run on engine oil from tom's or tmcj and oil filter from trd or tmcj. i just want control and due care and i get this from private mechanics.

for major service i will go to a workshop where i have good faith like genesis.

Calm down fellas....

Go buy a falcon or a commonwhore and see how many times u take ure "new" car back for recalls etc!

Indeed.. one of my friends was "lucky" enough to get a BA XR6T and his list of complaints makes the 'rollas look absolutely perfect.

I think the worst thing it's done so far is randomly surge forward in traffic when its fly-by-wire accelerator decided he wants to go faster.

I'll stick with the 'rolla thanks..

Yeah when they service me car, i brought the car in and around 2 to 3 hours later they call me and ask to do a fuel injection clean and wheel alignment with balance,

i ask if it is necessary and they said yes, thinking the car might go better after that, i ask how much it cost, they said total is $340, i said what the heck it better for the car told them to go ahead, when i pick up me car they said the total price is $370 ??

i said the guy that call me quoted $340, the service desk said he forgot to add on a few things?? Went back to the car and check if they have stamp the Log book and realise it wasn't there. I went back straight away and they said i never brought the book in.

I believe they have F$%&$up and gave the book by mistake to someone else and deny it. I told them this is not good enought and want to make a complaint they said they will post another one to me in three weeks!!!

Moral of the story is they fu$%^$&up and try to deny it.

OK then:

Brand new Corolla Sportivo at 8000K

- Horrid Rattle, brake noise, notchy gearbox (as they all do)

- Full new clutch kit, new throwout bearing and flywheel (faulty bearing apparently)

That all happened before the first service!

Now dont tell me that's reliability!! (especially when it is used for work 50% of the time)

Sorry to get off topic!

I don't know if its true or not, however, if the power at the wheel figure is around 85-87kw at the wheels, that is about true for 2zz-ge. Celica have that power at the wheels figure aswell.

I got this information from FastFour Magazine April 2003, the one with the amazing turbo celica which spits out 160kw at the wheel. "...double the power of standard, he reckons, based on a standard output of around 80kw at the tyres from factory floor..."

This was also the case with Accord Euro. I went to exhaust shop and met a person there who modified his Accord Euro. I ask him what is the power figure for his car (on that day). He said in standard form it should generate around 85kw at the wheel. Accord Euro in standard have 140kw at flywheel.

We have advised the relevant Australian Government regulatory agencies

of

the issue and are now working with them and with TMC to implement

necessary

actions.

We are preparing to provide all involved customers with clear advice

concerning this issue at the earliest possible opportunity and we will

contact you again shortly in that regard.

Thank you for providing us with the opportunity to respond to your

So it could well be minor, maybe 1KW!!!!!!!! I would still like that please :P

But more so the gearbox issue to be fixed, no point having power when you get make full use of it especially in such a tight power band.
