  1. as long as you realise HIDs are illegal if not properly installed with projector lenses. If they are installed with standard reflectors they just scatter more light and are more dazzling to oncoming traffic and in people's rear vision mirror. They also do not project light as far as more light is scattered. The choice is entirely up to you, but I've heard that the po-po are starting to crack down on the use of HIDs that aren't properly installed and do you really want to draw any more unwanted attention to yourself?
  2. it depends on the engineer and your own level of documentation and honesty on what has and hasn't been done. I personally plan to photograph every step of the conversion process I'm going to do so the engineer can see exactly what has been done and what it was like before vs after.
  3. So do many many many many Porsches, but again, they have a completely different note to both the straight 6 and V6 variants.
  4. what do you mean discovering Kebabs? Garlic sauce flows in his veins I'm sure... :P
  5. That's a bloody helpful post for those of us that have to leave home a 8:45 to get there....
  6. both cruises are meeting at the same place at the same time and people choosing where to go from there. Basically it comes down to Dan doesn't want to come down to Wollongong with the current police heat.
  7. Might be easier with an AE71, or an AE86
  8. most, if not all the turbo engines from Jap cars come in a non-turbo variant... another good straight 6, NA, example is the BMW M3, they sound awesome too :) or the humble Ford Falcon engine...
  9. here you go Ben... http://stores.ebay.com/SHORTANTENNA I got mine from there, works out to be ~$15-20 delivered to your door, and takes about a week which isn't bad since it comes from the US. Conversely you can cut the long section of the antenna off which many people have also done which looks better as well.
  10. having heard an MR2 with V6 conversion I can safely say it sounds like a Magna/Verada... a V6 and a straight 6 have very different firing orders which create vastly different exhaust tones (take a standard 4cl vs a boxer 4cl from a VW or Subaru as another example) engines like the Nissan RB series or the Toyota 7M or 1JZ/2JZ sound awesome because they are very well balanced by nature due to the way the pistons fire and are balanced on the crank. V6 engine are by nature a poorly balanced engine and as such are not as smooth sounding as a straight six.
  11. :help: :help: :help:       lol @ this thread
  12. as opposed to not being able to see the plates in the windows because the tint is too dark? You can buy holders for the plates which work great, plus the RTA gives the plates to you for free anyway.
  13. that was prior to these new measures though Bill. I doubt they would have done the same thing for the Corolla sportivo release, or even the ZZT series Celica for that matter.
  14. if you have 215/45r17 tires they don't look quite to Hilux-y
  15. I know someone with a very nice AE92 seca with 20V, extremely tastefully modded. He was looking to sell a while ago but took it off the market because of tyre kickers and dreamers wanting it for $4,000. I can find out if he is still interested in selling if you want? The back seats in the Skyline, and the Aristo for that matter are not very practical. A good one would be a 1UZ-FE Celsior. They are not too bad for insurance and 1UZs are relatively cheap and easy to get parts for as they are locally delivered engines in Lexus models.
  16. I have a genuine C-One panel sitting here still not collected by the person who was 'going to buy it' 3 months ago. $100 to the first person to get some money to me. (does not include postage if interstate)
  17. He doesn't need to go to that extent at all, read through his post and you will realise that moisture got in there when he installed his HIDs. All he needs to do is wait for a warm, fine, dry day and pop the globe retainer out, let it sit for a while in the sun baking, then pop the globe back in again. Conversely he could blast it with a hairdrier.
  18. I get condensation in my right headlight on cold nights after I changed the globe. It happens very easily after the seal is broken. I changed my globe at night in a cold, underground basement carpark on a rainy day, so there was lots of moisture in the air at the time. I suggest doing it during the day in full sun light.
  19. how do you know it's not a merman though :P
  20. for reference the autobahn has a 'suggested speed' of 130km/h police turn a blind eye to those that choose to go over this as long as they are safe about it.
  21. You can easily get an aristo for under $15K, only in auto though and most with a poor service history. I was factoring compliance costs as well. It's difficult to find one under $15,000 complied and in reasonable condition.
