  1. Check your owner;s manual and I suspect that you will find that your ZR6 is fitted with HID Xenon Headlights. LED bulbs should only be fitted to LED Headlights. Quite possibly, you should have considered buying the following or similar https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4300K-Heavy-Duty-D4S-D4R-OEM-HID-Xenon-Bulb-Lexus-Honda-Mazda-Subaru-Toyota/151683975943?hash=item235111cb07%3Ag%3AHQAAAOSw5tNcL3Y7&fits=Year%3A2008|Model%3AAurion|Make%3AToyota
  2. Modern engines can be prone to engine sludge. Depending upon how well they have been serviced with good quality oils and regular filter changes, it should not be an issue. When I do an oil and filter change, I warm the engine then drop the oil. Depending upon the engine oil capacity, I then add 4-5 litres of diesel then idle the engine [no hard revving] for 5-10 minutes. Let the engine cool then remove the oil filter and drain the diesel oil mixture. Fit the new oil filter and drain plug then add new engine oil. My personal preference is definitely a full synthetic oil which has extra additives for desludging the engine. http://www.datateck.com.au/lube/NulonAus/ https://www.datateck.com.au/Lube/ShellAU/?if=1
  3. I don't know what your low oil level light but presumably it is similar to the oil pressure with a wavy line underneath. A good day trip with full synthetic oil will help to de-sludge the engine. Finally remembered to ask my workmate who drives a Kluger about the slight vibration in the steering wheel under hard braking. At a prior service the brake rotors and brake pads were replaced. After being back a few times, they have very recently replaced the brake pads. He did not know what brand parts were used but I have my doubts. Might be a good idea to check the condition of the rotors and brake pads.
  4. Just a passing thought which hopefully Squalled and Ben Yip can answer. What spark plugs do they recommend and possibly replacing/upgrading the ignition coils.

  6. A long time ago, ALDI had various neoprene car seat cover sets as one of their weekly specials for $49.95 This eBay listing [at a higher price] may be of some interest https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Custom-Neoprene-Seat-Covers-for-Toyota-Hilux-Single-Cab-Workmate-SR-10-2015-ON/253615150367?hash=item3b0ca4151f:rk:24:pf:0
  7. Essentially, I ignore them. I do take a deep breath and stay cool, calm and collected. I drive safe and smart i.e. defensively with about twice the braking distance so it is a relaxing non.stressful drive. Most definitely, I am NOT going to brake-check them. Eventually, the tailgater is going to overtake you and more than likely in less than desirable circumstances. Before my time, the girlfriend was driving and being tailgated. I understand that the roads were wet and she was driving below the speed limit for the conditions. The tailgater overtook her vehicle in a blaze of speed and disappeared into the curves ahead. Probably 5-10 minutes later, she came across their vehicle off the road and in a ditch with the occupants standing beside it . As she went passed them, she would the window down and said to them "Happy Motoring".
  8. The joys of a project have begun. I would definitely like to see a photo when you have done that work.
  9. Have a read of the ist post in the following URL https://www.toyotanation.com/forum/8-general-discussion/634018-vvt-brief-rattle-noise-approximately-1-second-cold-start-up.html If it is rattling on just about every cold start up, I would recommend that you go talk with your local Toyota dealership about a drive train warranty claim. Even if nothing is done make sure that it will be on record just ib case the worst happens.
  10. It appears to me that you are describing an intermittent parasitic power drain on the battery. There are potentially multiple causes for this issue. Just totally guessing but when there are periods of heavy rain, you are driving with headlights on [more power drain] and as a daily driver not using the headlights very often. I looked at some YouTube videos and one test showed that 1 cell in the battery was failing. As a starting point, suggest that you get your battery, alternator and starter motor checked. https://ask.metafilter.com/274975/Intermittent-battery-problem-Should-I-buy-a-new-battery
  11. Certainly toned down from the over the top F1 concept. As for awesome, it is all in the eye of the beholder. Personally, I want to see more pictures of its official launch at the 2019 Detroit motor show. Until then, the following looks really nice to my eye. https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/future-cars/a12635049/2019-toyota-supra-what-we-know/ On paper, it looks like it is going to have a very decent engine and auto transmission. https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/01/01/top-10-best-engines-of-2019-by-wards-auto-b58-3-0-liter-inline-six/?utm_source=quora&utm_medium=referral
  12. I thought that I would share the following YouTube video because I agree with his practice of changing the oil filter mid-way through an extended service interval. I particularly noted his recommendation of reducing the service interval and a higher oil viscosity with the increased mileage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lUA1YgoF1U
  13. I think that is going to very much depend upon the condition of the suspension and whether the front and rear shock absorbers/struts need to be replaced. In my opinion, the Toyota FS-FE motor is a solid and reliable motor but not a performance engine. http://australiancar.reviews/5S-FE-engine.php Hopefully, the drive train has been well maintained. Note that the differential is a separate fill to the transmission. https://www.datateck.com.au/Lube/PenriteAus/ Hopefully not but that very much depends upon the current condition of the vehicle and how previous owners have driven it. Good idea to do a full fluid change and regular maintenance. Because I am DIY and a great believer in preventative maintenance, I have a tendency to over-service my vehicles.
  14. Potential cause is a bad rod bearing. https://dannysengineportal.com/engine-noise-under-load-faq/ Check for loose or broken engine and transmission mounts. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b&q=thump+when+changing+gears
  15. After looking at the following YouTube video, I would be wondering whether the float is sticking temporarily or the oil level in the sump is temporarily changing. I am assuming that you have checked the oil level on the dipstick and it is at the full mark; process of elimination to remove the obvious cause. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVs6eNXlaCM Totalling guessing but no harm in also checking the connections/wiring to the oil pressure guage and the oil level sensor. Workmate is having a similar issue with his Kluger and was going back to the workshop for further parts replacement. I will try to get more details from him when he returns to work in early January.
  16. The P1346 code relates to the VVT solenoid.actuator. https://www.engine-codes.com/p1346_toyota.html Following eBay listing is for reference purposes only, you will have to confirm the part number for your vehicle. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/15330-28020-Variable-Valve-Timing-VVT-Solenoid-Actuator-Toyota-2-4L-917-020/273514043221?hash=item3faeb51755:g:kKUAAOSwoR9aEOG5:rk:44:pf:0 Following YouTube videos may be relevant for your consideration. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nm25CP_SsIA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DpBOxYQtVM8&vl=en If you are DIY, before throwing parts at the problem, I would be checking the oil level and considering whether the oil and filter needs to be changed. Next, I would be removing the VVT solenoid actuators for inspection and a clean with some degreaser.
  17. This Autobarn Boxing Day special is just too tempting. Starts online Xmas Day. NULON ENGINE OIL Full Synthetic LONGLIFE 5W30 5L $19.99 [Limit of 2 per customer] https://mailchi.mp/f789ff44ec98/autobarns-boxing-day-sale-starts-online-on-christmas-day?e=7257364d75
  18. Quite some time ago, I had the alarm go off on my Aurion a number of minutes after locking the doors but not a delay of 20 or even 40 minutes. I cannot remember the sequence of events but I ended up sitting in the car with the window down just in case the doors locked or could not open. I am sure that I used both the remote control to lock and unlock the doors then also used the central door locking switch on the driver's door.
  19. I would say definitely YES. Press down in the foot brake pad to release and it will come up. Probably a good idea to also to have your right foot on the brakes when you do this.
  20. Best to check your owner's manual. Just looking at RedBook, there appears to be a significant difference in towing capacity [braked and unbraked] between automatic transmission and manual transmission models. https://www.redbook.com.au/cars/details/2013-toyota-rav4-cruiser-manual-awd/SPOT-ITM-326316/ My towing experience is very limited to a box trailer around town. Last interstate trip on the Newell Highway, I saw a caravan that had flipped upside down and the towing 4WD/SUV was amazingly still upright and spun around beside this caravan. Guess someone's around Australia trip has come to an abrupt halt. Also thought at the time that the caravan chassis appeared to be quite longer the towing vehicle.
  21. Definitely plenty of room to move your foot. I have mostly size 8 and some size 9 shoes. I do an annual interstate trip Brisbane to Wagga Wagga. Last trip included a detour to Hamilton VIC so 4 days of highway driving then another 2 days for the return trip. While driving on these trips, I occasionally move my left foot under the front of the driver's seat and also the occasional leg stretch using the foot rest.
  22. Agree; plenty of foot room. Aurion has been my 1st car with a foot brake and also 1st V6. Previous cars have been 4 cylinder with handbrakes. Staying with my Aurion. Footbrake operates cables back to the rear brake shoes inside the hat of the rear rotors. Only switch would be to light up the dashboard warning light. As an experiment, I once deliberately touched the footbrake while the car was in motion e.g. 40kph and got a very audible warning message
  23. Suggest you wait for your regular mechanic or go to an automatic transmission shop.
  24. Inspect the ATF then decide whether it needs to be changed. https://www.pepboys.com/auto-care/maintenance/transmission-fluid-color Lifetime from the vehicle manufacturer's perspective is 10 years and/or 160,000 kms and this is based upon "normal driving conditions". After reading lots of internet posts about automatic transmissions failing because the ATF has not been changed, I made certain to immediately change both the filter and ATF on my Aurion which I bought a few years ago with approx. 165,000kms on the odometer.
  25. From past experience, I know that the difference between the full mark on the dipstick and just about nothing on the dipstick is 1.5 litres. Engine oil capacity is 6.1 litres. Loose enough oil and the oil warning light will come on; also past experience with the rear V V T i oil line. I would be interested in knowing exactly what oil you used. A lower viscosity oil will be more easily drawn past worn piston rings and/or drawn into the intake manifold if the oil channels in the valve cover are sludged up and the PCV valve is not working properly.
