LSD for 2ZZ C64 Transmission

Toyota Part # 41301-20230 (Helical / Torsen) (Not TRD part)

This is the LSD the comes standard with the Toyota MR Spyder ZZW30 is not a TRD part. This is compatible with our gearboxes according to some sources but that still requires confirmation.

However, this is the part that MWR is selling.

Part #41301-ST804 (TRD Mechanical LSD) is an optional item for the Spyder. Its a TRD part but unfortunately, it is also mechanical.

Will ring Toyota Spares tomorrow and see if I can get my hands on it....

Word of caution,

Also came across part number "41307-20230" which is a typo. No such part number exist.

Bl@rdy threw me off guard and spent useless hours trying to identify its existance only to realise it was an error.

I have heard some quality issues with the OBX ones. But most of them are with honda installations. Do some research on it before buying this brand..

Yeah, I was reading a thread about this last night. It seems in the very least you have to completely dismantle the OBX (and MWR version) and relocate some things that are put in BACKWARDS! Also, just to check for swarf and and excess case filings that may be floating about. It sounds like something the gearbox expert could sort out though when it's getting installed. All that is prolly why it's so cheap...? I'm still looking into it, as I understand there are some other concerns beyond that.

Rang 2 Toyota Dealerships and found:

41301-20230 isn't available at all in Aus.

41301-ST804 is $1900 + GST

and for those interested,

30300-17300 is the 6 speed sequential gearbox found on the MR ZZW30 and is $4021 + GST

Cheers

Got this from Toyota Castle Hill

The Toyota lsd is $1550.00 + $16.50 freight charge. (refering to #41301-20230)

Also TRD make a 1.5/2Way adjustable LSD conversion for the model $1750.00 + $16.50 freight. (assuming he is refering to #41301-ST804 as that is the only one I can find from TRD for Sportivos)

Both items are currently ex Japan 2-3 weeks and all prices are GST inclusive.

2 axles seals $40.00

2 Carrier bearings $125.00

Prices are GST inclusive. Sorry we do not quote part numbers.

That means it will be more economical to get it from MWR.

Cheers.

Question for the Gurus.

When you say 6th gear, do we just need the 6th gear (1 part) or is there more that we need to account for?

Final gear perhaps ???

You need the 6th gear set, that's 2 gears.

Gav.

Thanks for confirming that for me Gav.

Celica's 6th Gear Set. Do you happen to have the Toyota Part number by any chance? I could find that out but better if you have it handy

B) :P :P :P

Nah I don't sorry. I would love to get an LSD, sillycar 6th gear set, and balance/lighten stock flywheel.

But there's over $2k in that, and it's only been 6 months since I had the clutch done ($1k!!!). :(

celica 6th gear set a higher ratio to provide better economy on cruise ?

yeah. the gear is a little taller so therefore the RPM sits about 2 - 300 RPM lower than the sportivo's

happy to be corrected if wrong ....

LSD for 2ZZ-GE

The LSD above fits the Sportivo/RunX as confirmed by the seller after cross referencing with TRD/Toyota

Ends 30th May.

Enjoy.

FYI: The total cost delivered via the cheapest option is roughly AUD 740 after converting the currency. There could be change but I'm just giving the rough estimate.

There has been mentioned of Celica's gearbox linkage being the other side as compare to the Sportivo one here

Will it be a problem if I just get the Celica's 6th Gear Set (2 gears) and replace it in the Stivo gearbox?

Does this also mean that the Celica's gearbox cannot be replaced in a Corolla Sportivo ???

Cheers.

Tracked a guy down at Dandenong. Name of shop is

Transmission Specialist

29 Amberley Crescent,

Dandy Sth.

Spoke to David who tested my clutch and listened to my gears.

He mentioned that clutch is kinda needing replacement.

He's gonna charge me about $1500 - $1700 for labour only excluding parts to rip apart gearbox, replace bearings, syncros, install new clutch, LSD, 6th gear etc etc etc .....

He recommends that I replace all the syncros since I've got it out and bearings as well. Is that a fair statement?

About a week's worth of job.

Haven't rang elsewhere .... Will try these few days ....

so about $1200 labour for the box rebuild and $300-500 to remove/refit the box to the car from those numbers. it's a good idea to replace the syncrho's while it's apart, doing the bearings also will drive the price right up.

Has he done a toyota 6-speed transaxle before?

Aparently he has but I chucked him a trick question about the 6th gear and he asked me what about it.....

I mentioned a 6th gear removal tool and the possibility of replacing it and if I should include the budget for one. He said if the 6th gear is done too tight, he might not want to risk breaking the tool in an attempt to remove it. Is that right?

He came highly recommended by the subaru boys. Apparently according to him, the C series gearboxes are shocking and are not built for punishment (i.e. track racing). Honda gear boxes are the same as they break quite often and he has done quite a bit of them.

In terms of replacing the syncros, should I just do em all or do those that are farked? What bearings to replace other than the one included by the clutch kit?
