Pics and a little more explanation?
Kill switch SD ???

It's mainly so I can easily disconnect and re-connect power from my car while it sits in storage.

Cool. You've got a Braille battery. How well do they work. I'm thinking of getting one since I don't use accessories with the car off and was wondering if they last and not randomly die or anything like that.

Mine is one of the smaller sizes (5kg even from memory) and if the car sits for about 5 days without being driven the battery will be dead, hence the switch installation. I haven't had any issues running anything off of it at all; just problems with the car slowly draining power as it sits. It's gone completely dead heaps of times and still comes back strong after a charge.

That's good to hear since the only time my car goes for more than a day without me driving it is when I'm away from home. I guess an isolation switch would be a good idea for it in cases like that.

I'll probably end up getting one (larger of course that is the minimum rated for what I need) just because it's something to do I guess. Main reason is so I can get some ducting up to my intake because the battery in there at the moment is massive and blocks the only possible path to bring some ducting in from.

I got my from a bloke on the northside, friendly chap, deals mainly with Euro exotica so was surprised to see a Corolla pull up, haha.

Mine is the 14115 model, so still has 360 CCA and 15Ah; plenty of kick.

Attempted to take mould of sections of my boot for my custom sub boxes, using expanding foam as suggested in an 'Inside & Out' thread.

Failed. Majorly. Over half of it didn't set properly in the 5 or 6 hours it was in there.

Looks like paper mache is gonna be the go.

Also, are you challenging me who has the cleanest car :P. I detail mine literally once a week and if I'm really busy with work and stuff at least two weeks.

Yes I am. And try twice a week. And my engine bay would be cleaner than yours... I've seen photos of your engine bay :P

 Nah, my car isn't as clean as some others on this board, but I reckon it's pretty clean. Enough that I will challenge you.

Just don't forget the really fine details:

Don't forget the detail? Don't worry, I do not forget detail. There was even little pieces of stuff stuck on the side door speakers which I used a tooth pick one by one in each hole to clean out.

Door trims, hindges, inside out yada yada get an inspection to the utmost. I don't think you could out do me in cleanliness. :P .

BUT yes, you have seen my dirty engine bay. ONLY reason I do not clean it is because I did that once with my old car with bad consequences so I'm scared to pressure hose down and degreaser the engine bay from now on.

I only go over the top with my shamy and clean off the dust etc.

Oh and I only clean it once a week or one every two weeks because my car is garaged all the time. And to my luck when I drive its never raining so it stays cleaner much longer. Only reason I do clean it is because in the sun I can see dust forming around the body and then I know it needs a clean.

Today, when trying to get the fly out of my car(lol). I first searched on this forum on how to take out the dash cluster but stumbled upon someone saying when they turn on there corollas aircon it smells, and I had the exact same thing, it was horrid, if I turned on the aircon during the day and turned on the heater and night, so much condensation and smell would come out it would be overwhelming and my windows would fog up like anything, it would be like a mist of water would get sprayed all over my windows and I could not see anything.

I thought this is how it is and was disappointed until I looked in the manual on how to remove the filter, so I popped out the glovebox and took out my filter, and low behold, the filter was like it went through a tornado and straight back into its box.

It was full of dust, leaves, rocks, bugs, and so much sand that its like they dipped it into the sand at the beach and put it back in the box.

So I gave it a really good clean, and today driving, oh my god. What a difference. Its absolutely flawless, no smell, no condensation. I could swap between aircon and heater without any windows fogging or any smell.

So today after work, I'm going to pop by the dealer and grab a new aircon filter.

I think I just have. I always clean my engine bay, so I'm already ahead of you :P. By the way, my car is always garaged as well when I'm in Brisbane.

Anyways, like -DAvo said:

but at the end of the day, its is all in the eye of the beholder as to whoe car is cleanest

That said, I'm ready to accept defeat in your argument.

Besides, I'm not here to impress people with how clean my car looks .

As for what I did with my car today, I gave her a natural wash (after washing it properly on Monday). It keeps raining in the evening here.

So noble. :P

Our family friends are opening up a car detailing business. Today I also helped them out a bit with there pressure machines and steam cleaners. When they fully open up shop I'll get them to clean my engine bay, mates rates(free), haha.

Alarm goes down as well ain't it?

:P :P :P :P :P

Definitely can't have that when its park in a public garage while I jetset around the country ... ;)

My conventional battery lasted a few days more than 3 weeks the last time I was away.... alarm on and everything. Still came back strong. Did consider a dry cell at some point to save "weight and space" but hmmmm ............

Try battery world too Daryl ..... :)

Gave the engine bay a clean, wow the amount of black crap that came out! I did it in our backyard with the hose and all the water went onto our white driveway and it was just full of mud and black crap yucky water.

It looks much better, then with a rag I wiped off all the water and cleaned up the stuck on dirts as much as I could and where ever my hands can reach.

Loved the placebo effect, the car just feels so much better with a clean engine, haha.

Gave her another 3 hour clean :). Was bored!

post some pics of your efforts! well done :)

Check the members ride section. :D

Drove her to Sydney (from Cessnock), gave her a bath the best as I could with the given resources, then took here to the Sydney monthly meet at Villawood where she got to socialise with a bunch of Corollas.

On a side note...

unique: I retract any previous statement I said about my car being clean. I was in well over my head. I vote -DAvo as having the cleanest Aurion around... without a doubt.
