do you guys just use the normal unleaded?

i've been using optimax and bp ultimate for a month or so for my new corolla i got a month ago...

i only put in optimax and stuff when i've got enough money haha...

i'm pretty poor now...since i got the TRD air filter...

and bought a new pair of 35th anniversary superstars adidas..

Shell Optimax because of Coles 4c discount. I find I get better fuel consumption on the 98 octane fuels so in my opinion that little extra you pay at the pump works out even steven at the end.

best to search this topic but I use BP Ultimate since it has been available to be here in Wollongong, thinking about changing to Caltex Vortex 98 to see the difference and get the 4c/l discount from Woolies. I now refuse to use Shell Optimax...

Not this old chestnut again.

BP is the best in Brisbane :D

Shell is OK but my motor seems to have a rougher edge to it :o when running Optimax

i use slhell optimax becoz its been proven u get more octance in optimax rather than the other petrols in the market.

who told you that? SHELL???

RON is not a measure of the amount of octane it is actually a measure of the rate of detonation of the fuel (how else do you get 100-110 RON fuels???). What Shell does to raise the octane rating of it's petrol is add Toluene to it's 94 RON premium, BP Ultimate is refined to 98 RON not altered post production to that level...

I used to think that optimax made my car go better tilll I tried ultimate. It's that much better again as far as performance is concerned.

I agree...

Sport!vo, posting a post like that makes the whole thing even more irritating. a simple one-liner would have been suffucent...

And besides - I like Shell Optimax for the 4c/Litre & Flybuys...

BP Ultimate for me. Not worth the 4cent supermarket saving, i did my own calculations, i just buy less at the supermarket and i end up saving the same :D

Yeah I tryed the IGA trick once too but with the increased shelf price they have the $2 a tank saving gets eaten away in no time...

To answer the question on 98 RON 1 tank and normal Unleaded for a couple and back to 98 RON, this may work well for a standard 1ZZ rolla but for the Sportivo anything less the 94 RON is detrimental to the engine and CANNOT be used. You will also find as 1ZZ-FE stated I think, I not going back to look after all of sport1vo's cr@p (cheers for that Dude!!! <_< [sarchasm]) 98 RON detonates slower then 91 and 94 RON so has a benifit of lower fuel consumption so the extra $2 you spend to fill the tank with the better quality fuel pays for itself in the long run through the life of the tank...

Add me to the BP Ultimate team... I always thought that the difference would be so minimal you wouldn't notice... but BP Ultimate changed my opinion on that... 2nd would be Shell, 3rd Vortex....

sport1vo after reading this i realised you have too much time on your hands. who cares if it is a repeat unless you are paying for the site, give it up live you life it is too short to waste on 30 sec searchs and people are obviously keen to reply again.

i use bp and vortex if i can't find bp.

use to use optimax and it was a good thing until bp bought out the new one

BP Ultimate 98.

I've got Mobil, BP & Caltex within 400m of each other.

Haven't tried the NEW Vortex, because the OLD one was only 95 RON. I've been told the NEW Vortex is 98.

I'll try it out next time, heard some positive results.

Mostly fill with Vortex 98 and have no probs. It's generally cheaper than BP, but Ultimate is my preference.
