Thanks mate.

How is ur beam pattern on the road with the HID??

The beam pattern is exactly the same as stock, just brighter. The cut-off is more defined as well, but nothing really sharp like a true HID projector. I am lacking photos of the beam pattern on the road and was going to take some earlier, but the weather isn't quite the best right now and because of the wet road, it won't show up in photos.

In the meantime, here is an example of cut-off on my garage door (it looks sharper in person):

And this video (even though for another purpose) will give you an idea of how it illuminates things on the road. In person you can actually see th road lit up better than that though, but the markings and signs are about the right brightness:

Please wait a few seconds for Video to Load!

Both the low beams and the fog lights use H11 bulbs.

I'm in Queensland mate. Yeah, speeding countermeasures would be nice considering I have to take it real easy for the next year, LOL.

those 8k looks really like 10k with projectors...

It's the camera that makes it look really blue. It is much whiter in person. So much so, I'm planning on swapping the bulbs for 10,000k ones.

dude those quarry shots where tops where was that? near P.O.B?

Yeah, close enough mate. It's that place over the 'bridge to nowhere' (as I call it) which is on the left of Kingsford Smith Drive past the BP refinery. I have now given up on that site as it just doesn't work for me. I'm sure that the colour of your car would suit it best, and together your better camera, you can get some good shots.

I paid less than $20,000 and that was including the buyer admin fees. If you read the history of my car though, you will notice that it was a repairable write-off, so my price isn't the best indication (even though the RWO cars were selling for quite a bit). Also as well, people get pretty stupid at auctions and sometimes end up paying more than what they can get it for outside of there. So many variables that can affect the price. Always worth a shot though.

Well while I sit here and have a bite to eat while some things cool down for a bit, I thought I would provide an update as to what is about to happen. Nothing too fancy, but something I have needed for a while:

Grrrrrr ya got em before me... :P

well done, now you will be able to update us on how good they really are,ya still gunna use EBC red stuff pads when ya Bendix wear out?

p.s they are a sexy looking rotor... B)

Okay, so after fitting the rotors, performing the initial bedding in, going for a Cheap Tuesday movie, then going for some gentle driving, I have to say that I have never been more satisfied with using money towards my car.

My old rotors were seriously baked. I'm shocked at myself that I didn't resolve this earlier. The rotors still need some time and distance to bed in fully so I haven't gone crazy with them yet. All I can say is for all the braking I usually do in a typical drive, it feels so damn smooth. It doesn't surprise me though considering the condition my old rotors were in. The difference is MASSIVE. Anyways, here are some pics for the fun of it:

First we start with the old:

DSC04148.JPG

After many minutes spent swearing and getting numerous stares from my neighbours when I couldn't remove one rotor, I finally found a bolt with the right thread so I could 'pop' off the old rotor:

Old vs. New. The old rotor is just shocking, and the new one is just sexy:

That 'debris' shield had to go. I think it's what cause my last one to lack decent cooling:

After cleaning the mating surface of the hub, the new rotor is fitted and looking so much better:

The end result. Much better than before:

ya still gunna use EBC red stuff pads when ya Bendix wear out?

I plan to do that once the Bendix run out, depending on the rate of wear. If they don't wear so quickly, I might just jump ahead and put the EBC's in ahead of time.

I'll do that at the next brake pad change I think. I really couldn't be bothered stripping everything apart at this point in time. I'm not overly fussed about painting them as well. Not really a big thing for me.

What did you pay for those Daryl? Because I found the X Drilled and Slotted 4000 series are actually special order only... I'd like to see the difference in price :P

I opted for the slotted only because I plan to push these pretty hard down the track and don't want to risk damaging them. I've heard the cross drilled ones are only for Street Use.

Anyways, I managed to pick them up for a whopping $220 a piece. Definitely not a friendly price, but my old rotors were FUBAR and I can't really put a price to safety.

spirited driving needs good rotors!

can i safely assume that the folks @ Brake Plus said Aurions like all the heavier cars needs to get better rotors coz the OEM ones are one suitable for pedestrian use?
