  1. cool. I'll see you there. it's my first meet in a while. Haven't you been on the forums for quite some time now?
  2. there are absolutely no synchros in reverse. When you come to a complete stop, give the gearbox spindle a chance to slow down before you try engaging reverse. Just because the car has stopped and the clutch is depressed doesn't mean the main spindle in the gearbox is not still spinning too fast.
  3. looking foward to it. the question is: should i bring my sportivo, my dad's camry or my friends VL Calais. hehehehe
  4. side pipes are totally illegal. they look damn good but exit pipes have to be a minimum distance from windows. I think the cops would definitely defect you for it.
  5. check this out guys. Hmm i wonder if they make them for the corolla http://cgi.ebay.com.au/JS-RACING-SIDE-BRAC...1QQcmdZViewItem
  6. Yeah. i also looked at the FTO when i was in the market for a new car...the reason why I went stivo was cause it was new, leather, climate control, 14i~ish KW engine with a 1.8Ltr engine....couldn't pass it up. at the time the small-block V6 Mivec engine looked really tempting. I Buri_Sportivo, each and their own, i reakon the FTO shape is really nice. but at the end of the day, the prospect of a new car far outweighed the advantages of the FTO. Oh, and i've had two friends with the Mitsu GTO. they might be heavy but Twin turbo 6Cylinder AWD sportscar. that thing hauls! wit 4 people in the car, when you spool up those turbos, ur guts hit ur spine as the thing pulls away...so much torque. beautiful cars to boot! love em! And about other forums bagging out the s'tivo, those guys can bag out the sportivo as much as they want. it only shows you what type of people they are. I have no dilusions about my car or any other. The Sportivo is no supercar, but then neither is the Civic VTiR, FTO, Astra Turbo or anthing else in and around this class. i love all cars for what they are and enjoy driving them all. you can analyse figures all paper all day long and talk like you know all you want, but until you actually open ur mind and drive all these cars, ur opinion means nothing to me!
  7. with most stock cars, there is no real way to adjust the camber as the geometry is factory set. As rollamods said, camber bolts are just a quick hack to allow u the extra degree if adjustability. factory stock cars usually only eanable you to adjust ur toe angles. as far as i know, the corolla won'd need a camber adjustment after a lowering cause of our type of suspension, the rears are trailing torsion beams which means no camber change at all. And the fronts are strut type suspesion meaning little to no camber change with lowering. the only reason you'll need camber bolts after a lowering is if you have double wishbone suspension with non equal length upper and lower control arms as the camber changes dramatically as the suspension compresses. this type of suspension is most commonly present on the rear of the DC5 integra, rear of VT (and newer) commodores, EG/EK honda civics....etc next time you are next to one of these cars, look at the rear wheels and see how the wheel camber changes as they hit a bump and the wheel moves up on it's arc. hope this help (cause it's a damn lot of typing :D ) Oh, if you do get the camber bolts and dial in some neg camber, expect to see alot more wear on the inner side of your tyres. unless you use the car on track alot, it's not worth having negative camber. u'll never get the real benefit.
  8. Everyone has a valid point and i hate to the be the cynic but i seriously doubt that the suits at Toyota, Honda, Nissan, GM...etc are whole heartedly worried about green house emissions from their cars. the fact of the matter is that if car companies didn't see any money either now or in the future for low/zero emissions technology they would simply not be interested. just remember that there is no such thing as free energy, it just gets converted from one form to another. Even our sun will eventually run out of fuel cause all that heat, radiation energy must come from somewhere. hydrogen fuel cells and hybrid engines aren't exactly a new thing, they've been around since the 70's it's only now that economics and market environment has allowed them to be mass produced and sold. if it wasn't for economics, we would all be driving around in supercars that would be faster, safer, more reliable and more evironmentally friendly than cars currently on the market. but of course in the real world, this is the case so what I'm saying really has no bearing. I just wanted to vent. :P geez i'm such a forum wh*re :D And where do you suppose the Hydrogen will come from when the Oil runs out, with current hydrogen production coming as a waste product in oil refining? Cracking water I here you ask? Where are you going to get the energy for the electro-chemical cells to do that on a mass scale? Sure the zero emissions are great, but the real goal is high storage batteries with higher output at a lower mass then is currently available... how this will happen I don't know... but it's the only real 'clean' direction without resorting to backward technology like solar and wind. So then are Hybrid Electric Hydrogen fuel cell cars the future ? according to folks in the 90's aren't we suppose to be darting around in flying cars by now?
  9. air bags?? what do u mean?? And what do u mean by dodgy photochop???? airbags = airbag suspension :) ride height adjustable with electronic controls. i think he was referring to buri_sportivo's post not ur. We all know ur setup is real hehe
  10. How much would i have to lower my sportivo to make it look exactly like this??? 55mm? http://au.toyotaownersclub.com/forums/uplo...06_188_9765.jpg Gazoom, i got it done at ozzy tyres at liverpool. cost me $430 including wheel alignment. I had to wait a week for the springs to get made. they where a custom drop. Buri_Sportivo, there is a black facelift sportivo with white 17" wheels that looks similar to that. the guy put king superlows on his car. the gaurd sits just on the tyre level. Looks hot but ground clearance is minimal.
  11. that's weird. i'm not sure what offset my wheels are but after i dropped it 2inches there is still almost an inch left of clearance no scrubbing at all. are you coming to the meeting on the 25th? you can have a look at my wheel arch clearance.
  12. Thanks Corzza :D Cheeky_Age, the black pain comes off with the polish. the sides come off real easy, real light work! but i must warn you the ends are really really tough. you have to spend 3-4times as long. unless you have a small dremel tool you can attach a small buffing end to :D i started on the end but just left it black cause it didn't want to come off. only the sides are polished. i'll do the ends when i have more time.
  13. Hahaha. that happened to me when i had my old ST162 celica. i changed the suspension bushings to whiteline polyurethanes. i had the control arms off before i realised i need either a hydraulic press or a vice to get them out. screwed me up. had to walk up the road to the nearest mehanic to get him to press it out for me. at least the swaybar bushes went in with a hitch
  14. oh. i used to work at Pennant hills. not too far but a pain of a drive if you're tired i.e after work :D
  15. BURN! she burned you good! qkslvr, what size rims do you have? and I think you can update your "no mods" sig now :P i know! i didn't know what to say i'm rolling 17" with 215\40 17 tyres.
  16. good job! i always respect a well-done DIY job. how do the kings ride?
  17. yeah. it's black coated. The stock exhaust is stainless steel anyway. i just got under there with some metal polish and gave it a quick polish. the sides are easy to polish as the paint is thin. but the ends are a pain in the....Ummmm...endz thicker paint and it's tougher too.
