  1. lotus orange! Netz, peach is a good girly colour for a s'tivo :P
  2. I've got Silver because we all know silver is classier! I actually wanted blue but my previous car was a blue celica so i felt too reta.rded buying another blue car. too bad toyota didn't do any daring colours like toffee green (like holden) or light blue or yellow or something
  3. m..u.s.t ....focus....on.....car! noooh!!
  4. Peekay, some crsystal clear tail lights would look so good on that rear end. *hint hint* I'll live through you as i can't afford any mods at the moment. :D
  5. common guys! it is a known fact that i have the best s'tivo in Western sydney! I have battle scars from rolling into a towball of a 4x4! it's still there. and i'm proud of it!
  6. Hey blackrolla, the thrust bearings are the bearings in your clutch that allow the clutch plate to spin freely while you've got your foot on the clutch pedal.
  7. hey! :o the 2door corolla looks awesome. how come we don't get them in Aus? <_<
  8. Yeah. you're probably right. when i wash my car and get suds on the rotor, it rusts up right away. Hmmm.
  9. cool rolla man! i like the colour. is that aftermarket paint?
  10. for a vehicle of that age it could be the power steering rack. if it turns out to be that rack you will need to get it replaced. you can get a rebuilt one for fairly cheap. or it could simply be one of the main hoses. they are alot cheaper. pump a can of degreaser to clean up the mess, refill the resovoir and drive around for a day or so. It will make it easier for you to locate the leak.
  11. I get the thudding too. I never really paid attention to it when it was new so i'm not sure when it started. i first started to notice it after my 10,000km service.
  12. Yeah. that's what i thought too. doesn't the bonnet form part of the "crumple zone" for crash absorbsion?
  13. Yuck!! :P mechanic sympathiser!!! could you be more insulting?!? I'm the biggest Tight-As*s there is! I don't think anyone complains more about service costs than i do was just trying to make a point about the 2ZZ's high compression.
  14. ok. hehhee maybe the word "tuned" wasn't the best word. How about we use the words "well serviced" you don't want spark knock...etc The word "tune up" has always been accepted as meaning service so i don't know why you are getting your panties in a knot :D
  15. come on dude! where's your community spirit? :P
  16. you forgot the cool side skirts peekay. :P
  17. Different engine all together. Traditionally, Toyota engine codes tell you alot about the engine. The first few characters before the dash tell you what series and what family engine block is. the characters after the dash tell you about the head and induction. e.g 3S-FE (old celica engine 80KW) "3S" tells us that it is "3"series engine in the "S" family. FE tells us that the economy head is used (narrow valve angles. less power but better fuel economy) 3S-GE (old celica engine 100KW) the "GE" in this case tells us toyota used the GE head (steeper valve angle)....GTE means GE head with Turbo. GZE means GE head with supercharger. Most people will know the now famous GT4 celica turbo engine - 3S-GTE or the supercharged 4A-GZE so to answer your question. standard corolla used 1ZZ-FE engine and the sportivo uses 2ZZ-GE. the block is from the same family (all alloy) but has different crank, pistons and connecting rods. The head on the sportivo has more aggresive valve angles, VVTLi as apposed to VVTi (no variable valve lift). the compression ratio on the 2ZZ-GE is a whoping 11.5:1. (i.e keep i tuned once it gets old or you will get serious Pinging) All the difference including a larger exhause and revised induction system allow the 2ZZ-GE to have the same displacement as the 1ZZ-FE but gives the 2ZZ 40% more power. hope this answers your question....stay tuned for the next episode of... "QKSLVR's rant" - same bat time, same bat channel! :P
  18. OH MY *** :) :) that IS a sexy S'tivo!!! really like the wheel. whoever washed that car can do mine any day!
  19. Hey Peekay :D is it just me or does that tip look kinda small. maybe it's the angle.
  20. hey Lorman, I brought all my keys in. two black and 1grey. I dropped the car off at 9:30am and got it back at 3pm. They guy was pretty good. they called me when it was ready.
  21. Just got my car back. :D did the recall work at Phil Ghilbert. I'm not sure if the car is quicker but i can definitely feel an improvement with torque around 3500rpm onward. Engine sounds a little louder and meaner too. :D Hey. i forgot to see if the security light was flashing...too busy trying to hit lift in between traffic lights on the way back to work. hehehe The transition from Lift back down to low cams seems smoother too. maybe it's got to do with the new fuel map or something
  22. Stauff, I got my letter a couple of days ago. taking it in tomorrow for the work to be done. I would call them up just to make sure. big companies have a habbit of losing information <_< stuff gets passed around to too many people and no one is responsible for it.
  23. It's funny. I called Phil Ghilbert last Friday and they played dumb. then i called again first thing Monday morning and they magically knew about it. I also mentioned the gear selector cable and the service guy went dumb again. it's so annoying how they are denying everything. I haven't got my letter yet either. It's fair enough as i think they may be trying to coordinate the recall process and which cars come in at what time. I don't mind waiting as long as i get it done. hehehe. I haven't had much complaints with the car beside the brake squeel and the occassional rattle anyway.
  24. ouch. sounds nasty. is your car lowered?
