  1. Whoa.. :D That is one AMAZING looking Evo, love it!! The black headlights look fantastic as well as does the Evo 9 bar, very clean and lovely. Would be great to see this in person one day... Keep up the awesome work :D
  2. That Colt looks fantastic!! The wheels definitely suit it as well :D Are you bringing it to the National Meet??
  3. Looking great Reece! Can't wait to see the Cam in person at the meet on the weekend :D Plus have another Gen 6 along!! How did you do the calipers and what type of paint did you use?
  4. I just want to be able to put a location in my GPS and follow its instructions. The Ferntree Gully Hotel I can get the address for, so thats fine with me. :P Same here, and I can back it up with a Google Map print out :) I gather it's easy enough to turn right across the HWY to get into?
  5. Well hopefully there is another meeting point close by that is also easy to get to. Meeting at 11/11:30 works perfectly for me as long as I don't have to go too much further than that initial meet point cos I'll be going from Airport West to East Bentleigh and then from there to wherever the meeting point is.
  6. Definite dedication! If it wasn't so far out of the way I probably would have come and met you, but I'll hit up a carwash near Airport West late Saturday afternoon then hope that it doesn't rain lol
  7. Well I've got no pretty pics to update with just yet - although I get LED tails this weekend So I am very stoked about that!! Anyways it's just more of an update in this space/sussing out general feedback; I'm a bit stuck as to what my next mod will be lol There are a few things on the list I would like to complete by year's end, namely the Ultra Racing rear sway (already have the front strut - spose I should add some pics of that hahah), King Lows and Exhaust. Although I am open to other suggestions/easy things to complete. Unfortunately I'm not flush with cash so it's definitely bit by bit for me. So, what should come next? :D Although anything else is after the meet in June now. I really want the king lows (and may get Reece's [private_numbers] set) but Nathan (Tofuboi) scraped on my driveway the other night so now I'm not so sure I can go down that path, and I didn't even think my driveway was that bad. But, the set of King Lows for the Aurion is meant to be different to that of the Camry, so maybe I won't have the same problem... Help! Also, what does everyone think about taking the Camry, Sportivo and VVT-i badges off the rear? And what would be the easiest way to achieve this? Sorry for 20 questions, but it'd be nice to have everyone's feedback/suggestions :D
  8. +1 to this! Saw this thread just before and whipped out the iPhone and downloaded Opera, sooooooo much better!!
  9. Exactly! :) Just comes down to which car you prefer now - they are both very very nice vehicles and a great base for mods of any kind, just have to look around here to see plenty of evidence of that! I love the look of both but I'm definitely a Camry girl, there's just *something* about them for me :D
  10. yes from TTF sunshine on ballarat road... go ballarat bound... past macintyre, past the freeway, past cairnlea drive. hold right and turn right on station road, then go down til u get to brimbank shopping centre... there is hungry jacks and then supercheap. YOU CANT MISS IT LOL :D Thanks - I had a look using street view before and saw the Hungry Jacks and Super Cheap Auto :D So now I exactly where you're referring to :) Sorry but I won't be in on a recon run, I will be in Sydney for the national meet Then end of June I'm pretty much booked out lol
  11. Ahh - I believe I know exactly where you are talking about now, I went to the Tyre Factory in Sunshine on Ballarat Rd to get my wheels fitted, so I am assuming that Brimbank Shopping Centre must be where I come out at a set of lights when I turn left onto Ballarat Road? Although if there's an exit for Ballarat Road that does make life easy, I've been getting off the Calder freeway at Keilor Road, then turning right onto the Western Ring Rd (I think?) for a bit and taking the first exit off that. I am going to consult Google maps now lol Edit: Ah no it's not that other shopping centre at all.. Okay, I haven't been to that bit at all then. McIntyre Road is what I've used to get down to the Tyre Factory. Although, if I go that way, and turn right instead of left I now understand your first set of directions :) Thank goodness for google maps!! (the GPS gave me a bumsteer last time I entered Ballarat Road - tried to make me turn off at like Gisborne)
  12. Well mine's a manual, so I'm probably not in the best position to comment on that, assuming that you're more than likely going to get an auto. However, on the freeway I regularly achieve in the low 7's (7.2, 7.4lt), around town it's like Reece suggested and around the 9lt mark or mid 8's. And then I have those bad weeks where I push it a bit harder and its more like 10 or 11 litres lol Guess you've gotta decide whether it'll be a massive difference in fuel economy and if you like the facelift Sportivo or not :) I don't know anyone with a facelift Gen 6 (technically 6.5 now) Camry..
  13. Glad to hear you can still make it Lee - I'll just be cruising along on this one so will be near the back myself :) Thanks for those pics Peter, helps make it a bit clearer, especially for me!! So it's basically an "exit" of sorts almost to get into that car park then? Is there a quick/efficient way to get back out there from East Bentleigh? (I believe thats where I have to pick up the tail lights from) I was looking at Google Maps and it looks like I just double back to the freeway and follow til it veers off to the Burwood Hwy.
  14. Lol!! Is that what that button is for! Bahahahah.. Chalk that up to a total blonde moment for me! :D
  15. yeah im sure it would be fine but i would never just whip out the scratchx and do a "spot" repair without first washing the car (or at the very least the area you are wanting to "cirrect".... the idea of introducing dirt into areas such as your applicatior pad, microfibre cloth are just too high a risk IMHO. the regime highlighted in bold is a very good plan, my advice is to set aside enough time, keep a few drinks nearby and reap the benefits ;) Yea, I was a bit skeptical of using it as a spot product so good to know. Excellent! Well I better go and buy another slab then lol
  16. I really like that idea - I know there are plenty of members on here I'd like to thank for all the advice they have given. Pity I'm not much good at all in the programming space otherwise I'd offer to help out. Any possibility of implementing something like this?
  17. Sorry to revive an older thread but it saves opening a new one for the same thing - since the forum update how do people go about purchasing a Silver membership and what is the cost? I was just having a look around in the Settings area and didn't notice an area to subscribe. Thanks :)
  18. I heard that as well, cannot recall his exact reasoning but it was something to do with having more tyre surface in contact with the road. In the Sportivo I prefer to get about on 34 psi as my daily drive and don't mind the bit of ride comfort I sacrifice for the responsiveness and better handling I get in return. And before I go on a monthly meet when we're going to cruise I bump it up to 36 to compensate for the freeway drive down and the driving we do during the day so they don't end up losing too much.
  19. Ahh there's some good memories here - good idea to revive the thread and pump everyone up :) Looking forward to the awesome time we are going to have at this year's annual! And I agree with Lee, we really need to get some more Victorian's up there!! I would have loved to be part of a convoy but I'll be heading up the weekend beforehand, so will meet you fellow Victorians there :)
  20. That looks fantastic Davo! You can see all your detailing work definitely pays off as well, that car is positively glowing Really really like the ducktail spoiler on it as well, it just fits in so well with everything as do the Kappas. Would have to be one of the nicest, if not the nicest, white Aurions I have seen. Keep up the great work! :D
  21. what ever happened to the humble sponge with soap? wash them regularly and you wont have any problems. my brother used to have an 04 golf sport, he used alloy cleaner all the time and after a while his wheel hubs rusted cause it took of the clear coat, and it ruined his centre caps. +1 to this, also Meguairs make a great product called Non-Acid wheel cleaner (I forget the exact title) which is exactly as the name implies, no harsh chemicals and safe for all wheel finishes. I use it regularly on my chrome/machined black alloys to great effect, just spray it on and let it sit for 10 seconds and then wipe it all off (if using dry, otherwise you can apply at the car wash and spray it off). Their chrome polish has also been great and doesn't include any harsh chemicals. Specific info on majority of products is available on the back of the bottle as well as their respective websites (except for some manufacturers like Kitten); I don't believe it's the responsibility of users here to provide specific advisory warnings on products - members posting their feedback regarding most products is more than sufficient enough, and often includes whether they felt it was safe or not. There is A LOT of useful information in the Show and Shine section of the forum, you just have to dig through the threads a little.
  22. Thanks for that suggestion! Will have to look into those if the Meguairs one falls through, apparently the Victorian sales rep know where he can get his hands on one, but not sure of the cost yet. I've seen them on Amazon UK for 22.50 pounds which was about $37 AUD when I last looked.
  23. you most certainly can! :) if you really wanna get a perfect swirl free shine, then use ultimate compound first, then follow it up with an application of swirlX... as sometimes depending on paint condition and application methods, ultimate compound MAY need to be followed up with a less aggressive product to remove the ultra fine marks that Ultimate compound MAY leave behind.. i say MAY because ive used ultimate compound on many different cars (including my own) and the surface was ready for wax afterwards... (i will out of habit still follow it with a less agressive prod. but thats totally up to you and your situation) its basically the comsumer line version of using M105 then M205. :) Ah, good stuff!! I was thinking I was going to have to do it across two weekends or something and use one and then the other. So this is fantastic news lol I will do that then, thanks :) Watching the vids and reading the bottle of Scratch X (which I haven't bought yet) it says to carry it in your car for spot 'repairs', does this mean you can use it without claying first? I'm gathering that it would be most effective after a clay bar, so now that you've mentioned I can apply the products one after another I'm thinking I can wash, clay, use scratch x in a couple of places to get the really bad ones, then follow up with Ultimate Compound, then Swirl X (both of these by hand) and then polish and wax with the Mothers wax attack palm polisher. Heheh I'd say go for it Lee, but the images don't load at work so I can't see what I'd be recommending lol But putting together a car hamper sounds like an awesome idea :D I've got a plastic tub that permanently lives behind the backseat with 'esssentials' in it, with the other products in the house (unfortunately I have no garage or a wide carport - can't wait to have all that!), but I'm currently hunting for a Meguairs Boot Organiser to tidy it all up :)
  24. Thanks Davo - you're a goldmine of knowledge when it comes to this stuff! :D Will make sure I include the chrome strips when I go over the car, still can't decide whether I will use Swirl X or Ultimate Compound after my next clay bar as I don't think I can apply one after the other.
  25. Cheers for that - I might have to suss that one out! :)
