  • 2 weeks later...

got my exhaust leaks fixed by the guys at radiant exhaust. then i took it to an independant exhaust specialist to check for leaks. he couldn't find any. :)

so they did fix it right this time.

i noticed less of a grunt/noise after i got back my car. does't sound like a v12 anymore ;) power has been increased in the top end range, but i feel it in all the rev range. will do a dyno in the near future to see how much i'm actually getting.

about the insurance i went to the aami assessment centre yday morning and the assessor there was really helpful in looking at the damages the repairer did in the process when they were looking for the noise issue. he booked the car in another repairer in north melbourne to look at the noise and after its been rectified, the panel work will commence.

this is the 4th time i'm taking the car back to be assessed. i hope it will be the final time for a long long long while...

Sorry to hear your car got damaged and you're being screwed around with repairs.

Less noise plus a power gain seems to be the right result for a fixed exhaust leak, had a similar deal with a car of mine, massive gap between the flanges joining the cat to the catback.

More pictures of my new exhaust. Johnnieboi and I were able to lift up the car enough from home take out the mid pipe to check every single weld on the pipe.

please don't work under your car like that.

dw mate, jack stands where put in the correct places to ensure none of that sh#t happens

edit: 3 jack stands on the left of the car plus one on the right front. spare one on the rear right that wasn't really doing anything

Have you removed the rensonator?

the factory exhaust is still decent condition, not that much of rust..the new exhaust welding point looks good

No wonder why the factory cat blocks air flow, the honey comb inside the cat is so dense

I am always bit scary under the car, even knowing that it is safe with jack stand

yeah i'm relieved that they fixed the leaks up right. i dont mind about the messy welds... as long as there are no leaks. with our factory cats, its already high flow so i'd be wasting my money if i bought a new one. i'm not sure about the zre ones though.

This one looks a lot better, has an air of quality and those welds look much more pleasing to the eye, well done mate.

i think a set of ramps would make work like this a little safer, the pic you posted does look a bit dodgy, sorry gangsta :P

see ya soon mate :yahoo:

asian backyard stylez Ggg.gif

looking much better duy!

i wonder what made them do the bend over the axle that shape?

they used different angled mandrel bends order from a supplier i reckon. they took the ones that would be most suitable and butt welded them together. it would have been nice to have the one continuous bend over the torsion beam, but i think i got my moneys worth :)

also i should say that the material that was used for the mandrel bends were a lower quality stainless steel. i knew this by sticking the magnet on it and while it did stick, it still slowly slid off the metal, when i placed it on the varex and the straight sections of the pipe it didnt stick at all. ;)

Typical Johnny to work under a car like that.

Everything that guy does is dangerous, Danger should probably be his middle name
