looks good mate, hope you get your problem sorted by the annual meet really would like to see you there with us

Rowan: Will attend the meet if I have to fly down. Have to get in touch with Harrop (AGAIN) with regards to the seals.

In other news:

Car was put in for a long overdue checkup (30000km) and she came out scratch free.

Also had them put on the rear lower bars. Rear is definitely stiffer, but definitely not ~$220 stiffer! It all helps though.

Yeah man, we had to go buy one.

Seal has been replaced but boy was it a struggle. When I say struggle, think of Mick doing the short shifter, multiplied by about 100000. Below is a list of interesting points/issues we dealt with:

1) Pulley could not be removed while the nose was attached to the supercharger, which was unusual compared to other situations where they were relatively loose.

2) The bolts holding the nose drive on were on incredibly tight and the oil plug head was slightly burred

3) There was FAR too much oil in the supercharger. Definitely more than the required 100ml, at least 1.5 times the required amount.

4) Once the nose was removed, the pulley was removed, with significant difficulty. Using the bearing puller, it came off. But the edges of 1 side of the pulley is no longer true. When you spin it, think of a buckled bike wheel but with flaws in 4 parts of of the rim.

5) They did not use any form of grease/bonding agent on the inner part of the seal (where it contacts with the drive shaft) nor did they use any bonding agent on the outer part of the seal, where it mates with the nose housing.

6) Filling the oil chamber was not as difficult as we thought. About ½ to 2/3 of the bottle was put in without even having to shift the car, the car was then put on an incline (perpendicular to the incline) in order to fill the rest. Dave is of the opinion that we are a little short in terms of 100ml, but it should be sufficient as we are close enough.

Good point:

1) The original pulley I received was a 3.4 pulley. Due to the damage Anthony (STYLSH) donated his 3.2 pulley to the project. This means more boost due to a smaller pulley and may further explain why my Dyno run was less than Anthony’s and Dave’s with more mods. I was running a slightly larger pulley and the boost controller.

2) The whine is slightly different, I think because of the pulley.

So far it looks ok, but I’ll give it another run tomorrow to check for any leaks.

i Literally fell in love with yours and anthony's cars.

Just makes me want to do all this stuff soo much more. Im thinking at the moment that i either find a nice gen 4 GTP (manual) or a gen 5/5.5 manual then supercharge etc etc.

its not worth it to do it on my current car, too many K's etc

Hope you guys have a safe trip back up smile.gif

Thanks man, too bad she's not as quick as your Aurion...!

In other news: Thanks to whoever I was talking to about replacing the LED lights in my instrument cluster. Turned on the lights today and the cluster lights are gone. The dials work fine but I can't see diddly squat.

Going to have a sniff around tomorrow at what the issue might be.

I wonder who would be faster on the 1/4? We have a Willowbank meet coming up in the next month or 2. Keep your next few Wednesday's free.

In other news:

I removed all my old audio equipment bar the headunit + cabling. I'm so surprised at how Shiite the MTX TX-6001's really are. They are small, lightweight and flimsy. Not forgetting to mention the Shiite-ness of the install. I'm glad this install will be a father and son thing. My dad is as thorough as Dave (SupaTouring) if not more thorough! (and they both have a background working with electricity)

Subwoofer box details will be finalised in the next week and the specs will be handed over to a cabinet maker. Replacing the front and rears with 6.5" splits + powering the left and right channels separately (have 2x2Ch Response amps ready, 150w per channel).

Sounds like a pretty sweet ICE upgrade to me Andrew :D Can't wait to see (and hear!) the results  I want some whine lol (cue winning the lottery)

What I really want is a new headunit. My current one's screen is faulty but it is otherwise fully functional.

System won't be the best, but it will be a good value for money system. Especially given that all of the drivers + amps has already been purchased.

edit: some sort of boost would be good!

Hi Andrew, Congrats with the TRD Supercharger setup.

I was following this thread awhile back as I was also interested in this Setup as well (I also drive a MCV36R V6 Manual).

Just wondering in detail how hard it actually was to have the Supercharger fitted. Going through your post It says you had to move the Brake Fluid reservoir? Was it a real pain to actually have to move it?

I've been really interested in this for a long time but I was waiting for someone to jump in first and try it out on the Gen5 so I could grab some pointers :)

Also with the windscreen overhang, how much body work did you do to make sure the actuator didn't hit the body?

All up how much did the whole Supercharging process end up setting you back?

Would be interested to find out.

Sorry to ask what you might think to be stupid questions. I'm on the West Coast so nobody here likes to play around with Camrys :(

Cheers!

Thanks man, but most of the research and hard work was done by our (Brisbane's local) Camry king Dave.

Can you PM me your email please? I'll take some pictures of the bay tomorrow in detail + descriptions for you.

Well had the TRD Boost controller put in the other day and it makes a huge difference. The switch we made must have adjusted over time as it was dumping boost far too early.

I get the full power range and shifting late is alot smoother because the car isn't sagging because boost has been dumped. Going to book a dyno and finally find out what I should be getting...!

Niice, how light is your Camry compared to an Aurion?
