DVD player with 7" Screen Installed.

Well in regards to how the unit looks in terms of OEM fit, you have to see it installed for yourself before you can make any judgement. Long story short, all my closest friends grouped together and got me the Auspack unit for my 21st birthday. Severely hung over, I was still so excited that I just had to install it this morning before work. I managed to get the unit installed (minus the camera) and I must say, it looks so much better in person. It looks really clean and of OEM standard. I even managed to download IGO8 and the Australia maps with POI's. With that combination, this unit fricken awesome.

For those that have this unit, does yours remember the position in the track for music? I have tried both an MP3 CD and DVD and it seems to go to the beginning of the track every time I enter back into DVD mode either from power off or from the SOURCE screen.

Hi DJKOR,

Mine does as long as you don't eject the CD or DVD.

Hey guys, anyone else notice how much better the sound quality is with this unit? You would swear a better new set of speakers were installed. I can't believe the difference in sound, even with the crappy standard speakers. Makes you realize how poor the standard unit that comes with the car really is.

I actually have some bass in the car now! I can only imagine what a great sound I could get with a good set of 6x9's.

Out of curiosity, do you have the unit with the updated firmware; the one that doesn't beep with the button presses? Mine has the firmware that DOESN'T beep with the buttons.

Just had my headunit installed ... got bluetooth working nicely however I don't seem to be able to play any audio CDs (mp3 or usual ones). The CDs get quickly ejected by the unit, a short while after the CD was scanned for tracks. Does anyone know whats happening?

Look closely, is the disc not going in fully? I had the exact same problem. I only tested with the disc AFTER I put the console back together. Ask yourself this question; "did I remove the two transit screws at the top of the head unit?". I was panicking when mine didn't take the disc until I suspected that there was some transit protection mechanism (like washing machines). I pulled the unit out and fancy that; two transit screws. Stupid warning sticker on it wasn't really noticeable.

Thanks I think that's in deed the problem. The CD cannot be inserted fully into the headunit... I'll be heading back to my installer this weekend to complete the rest of the install (front splits, woofer, amp etc) so will get him to fix it up for me...

heheh, yep i did exactly the same thing. Didn't remove the transit screws.

Hehe I didn't, but only because Rob specifically pointed them out and told me to remove them when I picked the unit up. I had it almost installed before I remembered though!

Hey Guys,

This unit sounds awesome!...only wish I knew about it b4 I optioned up the ZR6 with the factory dvd/sat nav unit plus roof-mounted DVD player. Does anyone want to buy the factory sat nav unit off me??? ;-)

Just one thing, how does the Ipod interface with the AVC-6901 unit? Is it via USB port on the front panel or cable with Ipod OEM connector into the rear of the unit? I assume full Ipod control via touchscreen?

They have roof mount ones as a factory option?

No...to be clear, the roof mounted dvd player is an aftermarket Alpine unit (with 10.2" screen, ext game port, 2 X IR headphones and FM modulator - so u can play through car stereo) pretty good unit but doesn't play avi's. Factory Toyota dvd/sat nav unit does not play dvds as standard...

On the AVC-6901, I gather the bluetooth mobile phone integration works well and everything operates in override mode (i.e. can change sat nav settings and operate phone keypad while car is in motion) for the passenger of course ????

OEM connector in the rear, full control on the touchscreen - the scrolling on the touchscreen is terrible though, you're much better off using the remote for the iPod control.

Bluetooth integration is average quality. Hearing them is good, mic pickup not so good. As soon as the bluetooth detects a call it switches to the bluetooth mode and disables all other sound. The keypad works fine but you can't change settings for any other mode (ie can't change sat nav settings while in bluetooth mode).

cheers for the quick reply - all this sounds great for anyone thinking of upgrading base model Aurion head unit set-up - like I said b4, wish I knew about it prior to forking out for factory upgrade :-)

In regards to sound in this unit v. stock 6 stacker, is there a big difference?

I already have a GPS & would like to use Ipod on the stereo....playing TV & video is not a huge worry

So is it worth the $900?

Just thought I would post this as I am quite ticked off at the moment. This ordeal started last night when I was seeing if I could play some DivX through the front USB. It sure played the DivX alright. I was watching Nip/Tuck on it, then skipped forward to watch some music videos. Then when I hit the end of the list, things went haywire. The screen went fuzzy and the 'SRC' button was acting as skip forward.

I turned the unit off, and when I turned it back on, I got a screen like you can see in the attached photo. Funny thing is, the NAVI menu is perfectly fine and when the reverse camera is enabled, the video from that is perfectly fine. So pretty much every other page except for those two have this garbled up mess. Also, even when the screen is in a mess, the on screen text such as 'volume' come up fine. One interesting thing to note is that the touch screen responds fine. If say I went to the source page and touched the spot where 'TV' is, it will go to TV mode.

I have tried resetting numerous times, and having it disconnected from power overnight didn't seem to work either.

I've sent a photo to Rob at Auspack awaiting his response. At least in the meantime the unit still has some function to it and it's not yet a brick. Man it's times like these I wish I never tried to play video though its USB port.

And a video to better demonstrate the problem:

As I mentioned in my post the other day, the sound that you get out of this unit vs stock unit is unbelievably better!

Whats that CD your listening to in the YouTube video?

That song that started was ATB - Humanity. The CD that is was on as part of the compilation was 'World Top DJS 2006'. Also, I don't know the song that was on the radio afterwards, but I did a Track ID (thank you Sony Ericsson) and it appears to be 'Nitrogen - Let It Ride'.

damn, That sucks about the screen

Please let us know what rob says about this issue

I'm probably going to order it this week

Hope this is a one off case! :(

Well after posting the photo and video to Rob, he has suggested the best way is if I can send it back to them with my installers receipt for them to assess. I will pull it out first thing in the morning, send it express, and hope for the best.
