Drove it to the Coast and back. That's about all really.

Also sped past two cops on bikes parked on the side of the road behind a concrete barrier. I went past at 105-110km/h in a 90km/h zone. Was one of those whole slow motion type things where I even upward nodded at them while they stared back with a not so happy look on their face.

Yeah I know speeding is bad mkay... but my point being is that I think these cops here are getting pretty crappy with their LIDAR. This is now the third occasion where I have been extremely lucky. I should really stop pushing my luck.

Parked here at BNE ParkLong early this morning.... and then when I got to Newcastle, I picked up a facelift ZRE sedan. To make matters worse, it is an auto. Fark this thing is gutless. I think my hand drill puts out more torque.

Think that's bad, try an auto Astra. Had one of the company cars the other day for a trip to the mines and I swear it has put me off autos for life (not that I was particularly keen on them in the first place)

Out of curiousity, what you in Newy for?

I guess I'll try next time., I'm not good when asking for stuff like that.

Closest airport to Pokolbin/Cessnock where they need me to fix a few things from last week.

Took her into my local dealership to have the rear bumper looked at/repaired. Brackets been plastic welded back on where they were breaking off. Not made any difference whatsoever to the overall problem (which doesn't appear to be fixable short of a bit of custom fabrication/modification), but its the peace of mind that they aren't gonna break off completely now.

Also questioned them about the clear coat starting to peal on the front bumper. Upon closer inspection, it appears to have been resprayed at some point to cover stone chips, and its a second-rate job. Now I've gotta bloody chase that up.

drove thru Sydney peak hour traffic and averaged 6.2km /100 with the air con on :)

PS, on the fuel cycle, i'm driving like an old man (ahhh my camry days), see what I squeeze out of the rolla.

Finally got round to pulling out the LH door panel to find our why my door doesn't open from

the inside. A cheap plastic clip is broken, off to Toyota parts on Monday!

drove it back from the airport.

seriously needs a wash.

Rear wheels have been on and off the Celica all week like a yo-yo due to swapping spacers over, new custom-machined ones are on now and hopefully should curb the scrubbing issues.

In other news, drove the Corolla down to Sydney yesterday for Top Gear Live, and it appears to have developed a nasty clunk/knock in the rear suspension over _some_ bumps, going to have to spend the afternoon checking it out (driving up to Qld in a week's time so really need it to be in full working order for that)

My Lady has discovered ZZE model Corolla Levins and has developed a soft spot for them, trying to convince her to come with me to drive some and maybe we can get rid of her Daewoo so the Toyota family can be extended!

WHAT didn't I do to my car today!!?!? Here is my story:

Yesterday I had dropped my car off the get my Rocker cover & gasket & intermediate shaft replaced. I woke up at 7AM and dropped the car off at 8.10am. The service was so busy at that time there was like 10 cars in front of me at the drive thru service area.

Dropped it off and they finished in the afternoon. I couldn't get out of work so the car had to stay overnight :(.

Today I went to the dealer at 11am. I enquired about extended factory warranty, which then the guy at service took me over to another guy, so I sat in the office and we talked about getting some extended warranty, told me what there is etc and I read over the T&C. Was fair, so I forked out an extra $1200 on some warranty.

(It's much better, I get unlimited fixes under the extended factory warranty, engine, drive train, electronics, parts)

So now its 12.30am, I went home about 15KM from the dealer. When I got home I popped the front and took off the plastic cover covering the engine, and low behold oil is leaking out of this part here circled in red:(note: this is an old pic, not current)

http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/3517/dscn2478.jpg

****** OFF I immediately called the dealer, and I said after the rocker cover has been replaced oil is leaking from one of the plug things on top, the guy said to bring it back now.

SO after my car being at home for 5 minutes I had to drive all the way back to the dealer, and I told him and he is like nah it's probably just settling in, once I popped it up I showed him the oil and then he goes alright I'll take it to the back, they have a look and he comes back to me saying the o-rings around it are dodgy and need to be replaced and he said the part is coming from the Toyota factory in Melbourne which will be here by tomorrow morning.

****** off I said just keep it again overnight and fix it because I don't want to drive back home again and back again clocking up trips and eating away at fuel.

So dad came picked me up and the car is now at the dealer.

My third day not having a car :(

Oh also, since the shaft has been replaced, all I can say WOW. NO more knocking noise!!! And the car now drives DEAD straight. Before I had to keep adjusting steering but after replacing the shaft I'm sure its not a placebo effect but the car is going much more straight and yay no more knocking!!

At least the dealer got that right :)

took my car to get 2 things fixed picked it up with nothing fixed

a: my hatch is leaking last week after the rain i opened hatch to find the spare wheel compartment filled with about 20ltrs.. water is leaking through a dodgy seal near the right hand side brake light... toyota told me the car had been in panel damage (that must be a result of previous owner) so they said take it to a panel beater to get the seal fixed (wasnt happy)

b: i have a high pitched squeel in front right wheel.. so loud i can't drive with windows down at times. the noise goes away whilst braking and turning but if travelling straight at roughly 60km/hr or up its alawys there, the noise occurs after about 15min driving.... toyota said they drove it and heard no noise and also looked at pads through inspection points and said everything is good... on the drive home all i heard was the noise... (FURIOUS)

luckily they charged me nothing

insist on taking them for a test drive... you know when/where the car will make the noise.. so that way you can show them... :)
