I have been thinking long and hard as to why are people removing the Manifold, Air filter housing, throttle body, Vacume hose??

Seriously, if you bothered to read, a number of people here have already changed the plugs without removing the manifold . You have not discovered America.

Just purchased the Autolites XP5325 from Sparkplugs.com. $6.69 each.

We'll see when it arrives, really the shipping cost is only worth it when buying in bulk.

Fortunately I needed extra plugs for (IK31 @ $16 *Hiaks*) my other car so ordered that lot.

Here another brand to choose: Autolite APP5325 double Platinum spark plug

I have just changed the spark plugs, and first thing that comes to mind is why on earth did DJKOR suggest to remove the Manifold, Air filter housing, throttle body, Vacuum hose replace gasket If anyone has one in stock! ??

I can understand from a point of view more room, but buying or waiting for the exhaust manifold gasket takes time and cost money. and there is a much simpler way of doing it.

Listen up....

I Removed the wind shield wiper cowl, unbolted and removed the windshield wipers, remove windshield wiper motor, unbolt the lower metal cowl, then unbolted the bracket that’s connected to the manifold and engine as it covers the 1st rear plug, (far left) disconnect all the clips and done!! There’s enough access the rear three cylinders, without any drama (and I'm not skinny or captain elastic too!!!) the last plug on the right is tricky just unbolt the wiring brackets then shift the wiring up and slide the ignition coil out. Use a stool to stand on, or remove bonnet. FAQ needs to be updated!

About a 20 - 30 minute job.

Why on earth did you suggest to remove the bonnet.

I wouldn't mind just putting my 2 cents in here.
As a mechanic, ive done spark plugs on quite a few aurions. There's no need to remove the manifold on the aurion t get to the rear spark plugs. Only the windscreen plenum and windscreen wiper assembly, demonstrated in steps earlier in this thread

From here, you can reach behing the manifild to get to the rear plugs (and you have to remove a bracket covering the most RH coil pack)

Prices are high aye.

I tried getting trade prices juat about every where and nothing under $20 from any stores.

So i asked my parts counter to quote me some AC Delco plugs and got some dual platinum plugs for $5.50 each.

It was worth a try so i nstaled them last week and the car feels and drives great.

No point going platinum for me as they don't last as long as iridium plugs. The effort to change them isn't worth the small saving in the spark plugs.

Anyone have a lead on cheap iridium plugs that work well for the Aurion? Cheapest I can find is $16 for Champion 9006 iridiums on Ebay.

Took me a bit of searching to find out they are suitable but the were released after my car was made.

I looked up different ones years ago, some people prefer different brands from others. I have no idea which is better out of the 2. Denso is the oem brand for toyota who owns them.

Hi Everyone.

Just becauses with buying off Ebay, as there are seller who are selling bodgy spark plugs, especially the Denso FK20HR11.

If you zoom in on the picture, the U shaped cut out is there. These appear to be genuine Denso plugs.

I used the above approach rather than remove the intake and replace gaskets. Started at 4:30pm and paused at 7:30pm after replacing the spark plugs and ignition coils for the rear bank then reassembling. Probably could have saved 30 minutes by being better organized and having to find better quality 6 point socket and breaker bar to undo 2 of the nuts on the passenger side strut mount. Surprisingly, driver's side strut mount nuts came undone quite readily. Only took 20-30 minutes to replace the spark plugs and ignition coils for the front bank.

I was thinking that it was sooner than 2 years and 4 months since I replaced both spark plugs and coils.

Just viewed this recent video by The Car Nut and I was thinking that I did not remove the intake. I now recall that I did have some fun moving the rear wiring harness out of the way to get to the spark plugs. I am sure that I did put some anti-seize on the spark plug threads.

Had my spark plugs changed at 70,000 klm.

Mechanic charged me 1 hours labour for the job..

I didn't think that was excessive?
