  1. Toyota Australia has initiated a safety recall on 21 Kluger vehicles produced during October 2017. This recall is due to a condition affecting the vacuum pump that is used to supply vacuum to the vehicle’s brake booster. https://www.toyota.com.au/main/news/toyota-australia-to-recall-vehicles-due-to-vacuum-pump-malfunction
  2. I had one that was rattling on start up... turned out it had 20-50 oil in it. Changed it and used full synth 5-30 and no rattle at start up after that. That was on an 07 camry with about 80k/k on it. Not sure how many k's yours has done?
  3. I would not use 91. 95 or 98 will be fine and will give you no problem except for maybe better performance and economy. Lately I have been using E10 (94) in both our cars and they are running very nice on it, better than the 95/98 i had been using. In the end.. it is up to you. Try them all ...
  4. You do need a special tool to remove the filter cover. It can be messy so be warned.
  5. You need it to have internet access via wifi. Not much on toyota link anyway so i would not bother.
  6. I have had many camrys, aurions and their transmissions are usually smooth and changes virtually undetectable. To put your mind at rest they are also about as durable and reliable and reliable as you can get. If you suspect the changes are not right then report it to your dealer so they can check it out. They are a "learning" automatic... ie, they adapt to your driving style. Good move avoiding the istop... they are a battery killer. #1 tip.. do not fiddle with them... the days of checking plugs etc are long gone. Just drive it, enjoy it and get it serviced as per the log book by a reputable mechanic or dealer.
  7. Private sale or from a dealer? If a dealer then get it back to them pronto. Otherwise, it could be many things.. get it to a mechanic for a quote.
  8. Our 2016 tram tracked a little but I upped the pressure to 40psi in the front and steering is much improved.
  9. I believe it was no big deal... it is all here... (just needs a dab of grease on the switch) https://www.productsafety.gov.au/recall/toyota-power-window-master-switch-various-makes-and-models
  10. Disconnect the negative battery terminal for 10-20 minutes then reconnect. You will need to reset your radio station presets, maybe the clock and with the drivers door lock button, lock then unlock the doors. If you dont do the last thing your tailgate wont open.
  11. Our Nov 2016 20,000k has done this once. Horrible noise and engine idled rough, immediately turned it off. Waited a while and restarted and has never done it since. Did op find a cause or a fix?
  12. It is physically impossible to drain all the coolant from the block. Here is what i do... Turn the heater control to full heat. Remove the overflow tank, drain and clean. Remove the radiator cap and take the lower hose off the radiator and drain. When empty reconnect and fill with clean water and run until thermostat opens. Let cool for a while and drain again. Do this a couple of times until water is clear/clean and drain once again. Only use quality concentrated long life coolant, not the premix. Refit the overflow tank and fill to the lower marked level with coolant mixed at the right ratio. Put in enough concentrated coolant in radiator for your "total rated coolant capacity" and top up with distilled water (preferred). Start motor and with the cap off increase revs to around 1000rpm and top up with water until level remains constant and put the cap back on before reducting the revs. Go for a short run... couple of km and let cool and park on level ground. When cool check level again.
  13. Easy fix to try first.. reset the ecu and see if that returns it back to normal.
  14. 0-? grade oil would be for US areas where it snows.. gets a lot colder than here. Definitely too thin for here. Use a full synthetic 5-30 or 5-40 here.
  15. I have had Michelin Latitude 245/60R18s on mine for the past 40k/k and would have them again. Still a lot of wear left... easy 20-30k/k more, they are quiet and grip well. Running 38 psi. Certainly a big improvement over the factory Dunlops it came with on the 17" rims.
  16. Has not happened to my 2012 yet but was wondering if anyone had tried resetting the ecu? That would be the first easy fix I would try. Disconnect the negative terminal for 10-15 minutes. (When you do this you will find that the tailgate will not open. Just lock and unlock the car using the drivers door button to fix that.) Let us know if this works?
  17. I installed a Joying unit in a 2012 Kluger which is basically a tall Aurion..:-) Easy to do but do some research before you start. Story is in the Kluger forum... here..
  18. I have done it on a 2012 model and it was very easy even though it appeared difficult in examples shown on youtube and toyota nation. I recommend researching these as much as you can.. One tip ... cover any surface that may get scratched especially the glossy finish on the console. I installed a unit from Joying. It fits perfectly and looks like factory fit. If not included in your kit i recommend getting the correct antenna adapter to utilise the built in antenna system and booster. Without it reception will be poor. When fitted the reception strength is far better than the factory toyota unit... which surprised me. https://www.google.com.au/search?q=toyota+antenna+adapter&client=firefox-b-ab&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwiE8fGX_avUAhXRNpQKHfkJBmwQsAQIag&biw=1366&bih=645 Do not use the cheap after market antenna boosters... junk and not needed. I cannot fault the Joying unit. It performs better than expected, is stable and has no lag. We purchased a new aurion as a second car and regrettably opted for their upgraded jbl nav/audio system which was more than twice the price of the Kluger Joying unit which outperforms and has heaps more capabilities and features. Also with the android based after market units you can use one of the many free android nav programs which include good maps with free updates. I have 3 installed in my Joying unit and you can allocate one to be the default nav program to be activated by the nav button. The unit came with all the correct connectors except for the antenna one mentioned above. The steering wheel buttons are customisable within the units settings panel to react as before or to any settings you like. I did make a couple of enquiries with Joying when I was installing and their response time and the advice given was perfect. Be careful with what unit you choose... some of the chinese units are excellent and well made.... but there are some poor ones as well.
  19. auto transmission... not necessary yet. look at the service schedule brakes.... flush every 20k/k. dot 3 or 4 fluid. remove and clean wheel speed sensors. fronts are only one bolt, easy to do. transfer case or diff.... not necessary... it is 2wd fwd. power steering... its electric no fluid involved. car comes with a owners service record... that shows what needs to be done at each service interval. Did the car come with the two books? I strongly recommend that if you are not experienced with basic car maintenance then get a local mechanic to do it. It will save you a lot of money. GOOD GRIEF... IS THIS FORUM POWERED BY A DIAL UP MODEM?
  20. Want to buy.... Towbar to suit 2007 Camry (aurion that era may also fit) Would also like wiring loom for bar but optional. Must have mounting brackets. Newcastle NSW 2300 region.
  21. I used a similar method to that mentioned above to program a new key for our 07 camry. Worked perfectly. I got my instructions from a youtube post. Must get it 100% right though... don't rush. Do not remove the key until it is finished being written to... can take a couple of minutes.
  22. MrLee... Best of 12.9? Worst I have ever had was 14 and that was towing a caravan. City I get in the 10's and highway low 8's... it is a '12 2wd though.
  23. By stiffening the suspension you may shake the car to bits... ?? Kluger is not really the right vehicle for hooning.. :-( Such modding costs $ but also greatly reduces the value of the vehicle.
  24. For the style of the vehicle I would not say the handling is too bad, there are a lot that are far worse. They like to have a lot of pressure in the tyres though. By stiffening up the suspension be sure that you are not removing one problem and creating another? Have you looked through the US Toyota Nation site... over there they are called Highlander. Being a Camry chassis some mods from them might work?
